Trump is an ignoramus and a know nothing. He also believes that nothing is ever his responsibility.
I am sure if you asked him about General Yamashita, he would answer something like "I heard he is being recognized more and more these days. I would love to meet him."

As a retired Army JA, I can assure you the lawyers will be screaming about the Law of War. The question is whether the leaders will think they have been given leave by the CinC.
