Nothing says presidential quite like awkward hand gestures, repetitive unintelligible comments and back talking on Twitter once he's done..... I can't wait to see his tweet regarding what he says he didn't say shortly after he said it on camera...

PLus... just for a little extra added viewing pleasure, anyone who watches will have to endure at least one talking head declare that "Trump became President tonight". As a matter of fact that should be our drinking game.
The drink up words should be:
Pivot
Presidential
Reset
What weasel words would you add?

In the talking head division I would guess one of those "he became president tonight" verbal farts that you'd already mentioned. I'd also expect "disappointing/disappointed" and other such synonyms. And maybe a few "he had a chance to... (but he blew it)s."

(14,488 posts)I'm darn near 70 and have the same ill feelings in my mind and gut. I suspect this administration will cost the US tremendously just in increased health claims for stress, anxiety, depression, and ulcers. That's in addition to increases due to worsening health insurance coverage, reduced workplace safety and reduced environmental protections. He'll also probably cause increases in alcohol and drug abuse, and divorce!
At my age, I'm thinking of resurrecting some of my old hobbies just for relief.

(14,488 posts)I'm a newbie here, but sadly, not at life, LOL. Clean coal makes as much sense as compassionate conservative. Spent a lot of time with the tail-end of coal's use crotch-deep in fly ash and the arsenic that goes with it. I really feel for the miners and I hope we work hard to help Appalachia and the other mining areas build a new economy, and help those like ones in your family that have suffered from black lung and serious injury. Trump's assertion that coal would brought back to its heyday was one of the most cruel things he said at his rallies.

(204,738 posts)During the campaign, whenever he came on the TV, I changed the channel. I couldn't wait for it to be over so I'd never have to see or hear from him again!
And isn't there some program out there that turns Trump's face into a cat?? Welcome to DU, KY_EnviroGuy! It's great to have you with us!
KY_EnviroGuy
(14,488 posts)Thanks, Rhiannon, nice to be here. One of my interests in retirement is most every day, I surf several great news sites around the globe out of healthy curiosity and the desire to continue learning. For several months after the election, I could hardly find a news site that was not plastered with photos of Trump. Even when going to a secondary article page, the darn thing still had side-bar photos of him. It was difficult to deal with, as I have mild depression. Thanks goodness, it's better now and not nearly a saturated. And, I now have DU for relief, along with good music!
Rhiannon12866
(204,738 posts)It was almost like no one else was running - of either party. Any other candidate gave a speech and it didn't take long for it to become a sidebar - or be interrupted by talking points. But Trump was a ratings winner and anything he blurted out - or droned on about - was shown in its entirety! No wonder he got as many votes as he did - those who weren't paying attention barely knew that there were other candidates!
And I can sure sympathize, DU has become a refuge for me - and an amazing source of knowledge - since early 2003. And check out The Lounge for music, we have that, too. And plenty of humor to help us get through these tough days. I just hope you like cats, we have a lot of those, as well, LOL. I'm just glad you found us!
KY_EnviroGuy
(14,488 posts)I fear we now have a general public that has little interest in learning, but only wants to be entertained and sensationalized. Therefore, the media was only satisfying that need. Hillary was mostly serious business and offered little entertainment. I have a lot of relations here that when I try to engage in an intelligent discussion, I get that deer in the headlights look, and it really feels empty and lonely. Not sure what to do about it except to stay engaged and do our part to inform. I do, however, in general see a healthy desire in our progressive community to learn, discuss, dissect, dig and debate!
Rhiannon12866
(204,738 posts)We never know what he's going to come up with from one day to the next. And I've also read here that it's Trump, himself, who's the distraction - that behind the scenes his familiars are dismantling our country as we know it, eliminating environmental protections, alienating our closest allies, giveaways to our traditional adversaries, attempting to censure a free press, draining the treasury - and we already know about his efforts to eliminate affordable health care. The list goes on.
But one of the greatest things about DU is the depth of knowledge here. Folks here follow the news, we often see news posted here before it appears in the mainstream press. And we don't suffer fools gladly here - I trust (almost always ) what I read on DU. I think you'll find yourself among informed kindred spirits...
KY_EnviroGuy
(14,488 posts)If not already, I'm hoping someone will start a web site that only tracks this administration's negative actions on rules and regulations to help get this stuff out in the light. As an ex-environmental guy, it breaks my heart to see the EPA dismantled. I'm not seeing much at all on this in the MSM, but strangely enough see more in British papers like The Guardian.
Thanks again and have a great week!

I call them "feel good" cords and instinctively latch on to any production I hear containing them. Not being a technical musician, I have no clue what it is that comprises them, but I am certain that some producers and pro musicians use them on purpose. Regardless, I'm thankful we have music to tame and soothe us.
