Steve Bannon, the ousted White House chief strategist, is reportedly considering starting a television network which would allow him to "go nuclear" as he settles vendettas with moderate advisers in the White House and pressures President Donald Trump to pursue a populist agenda of economic nationalism.
Allies of Mr Bannon compared him to a "tiger freed from his cage," suggesting things would get "ugly" as he targets the Republican establishment and what he calls "West Wing Democrats".
The departure of Mr Bannon came amid one of Mr Trump's worst weeks as president.
He and first lady Melania Trump decided not to participate in the annual Kennedy Center Honours event celebrating American culture after a backlash from those being honoured. The White House said the first couple were pulling out to "allow the honourees to celebrate without any political distraction".

(32,884 posts)Now that Bannon is no longer working for Trump, he can do whatever nasty underhanded stuff he wants. And getting even with Jared/Ivanka is certainly one of his goals. The thing about Bannon is that he knows how to play the media and he leaks stuff without it getting back to him. If he has anything on Jared or Ivanka, you can bet it will be leaked in a New York minute.
On the other hand Bannon claims he's still "loyal" to Trump so we'll see if that lasts. I'm sure there's stuff the Russians have on Bannon, even if it's only that he was "complicit" along with the rest of the Trump campaign. For measuring of guilt in the Russian take-over, the Trump family members are all 9 out of 10, while Bannon is maybe only 2 or 3 out of 10. He's probably under that radar in that regard.
It wasn't that long ago that folks here on DU were predicting that Cheeto would sacrifice his son-in-law in order to save his own ass, and maybe throw suspicions elsewhere. This is still a strong possibility, and I'm thinking that Bannon leaking info on Jared is part of that plan.

(22,069 posts)What super power does Bannon have? What weapons can he wield?
Consider that a few days ago, he was Chief Strategist to the President of the United States of America. Today, he runs a modest website. Hardly comparable positions of power.
Yesterday's march in Boston demonstrated that the Alt-Right is actually pathetically small and cowardly. The Americans (and others) who turned out for the rights of all Americans peacefully demonstrated their over-whelming numbers. That's power.
Bannon can breathe all the fire he wants. He's got precious little power and a very small constituency.
On the other hand, if he's got dirt on the Kushners, bring it. Tear them down as it will hurt Trump even more.

"a populist leader"
This guy and his fucking cadre of super-rich assholes (and I include every Republican member of congress in this) want to destroy literally everything that helps ordinary (non .01% people). EVERYTHING.
You know, since November, I swear a lot more than I ever did before. Weird, eh?
