Yes, last weeks violent demonstration by white supremacists in Charlottesville, Virginia, culminating in the death of 32-year-old Heather Heyer, made for a carnival of obscenity as sickening as it was riveting. But the thing is, it did not spring from nowhere.
And while your first instinct unlike the moral imbecile in the White House is condemnation, thats the easy part. What you have to remember is that this is said to have been the largest public gathering of white supremacists in many years. There is, it seems, an unmistakable new energy on the extreme right.
So you might want to ask yourself: Why?
Its easy to blame the aforementioned moral imbecile, but truth is, he didnt create this energy. It created him.

(396 posts)Matter of fact, I don't know that ANY President has apologized for neo-Nazis. The KKK definitely...look at Woodrow Wilson's career. Mr. Birth of a Nation. But neo-Nazis! Nah, idk that that's ever happened. Republicans like to hide their racism, Trump is exposing the entire party.

(82,849 posts)This is going to get in the way of cutting taxes on the wealthy. So dreary to have to explain the party's affinity for Nazis when what they really want to be doing is shoveling the Treasury into the overstuffed pockets of the overrich.
