(31,134 posts)Same reason he could get almost enough votes to win, he didnt win, in the Popular Vote or EC, lost outright in one and the other was stolen by on the ground KGB agents.
But he still got 48% of the vote from people who KNEW what a vile piece of human shit he was.
I am surprised he isnt over 40%, America is deeply sick with racism and ignorance.
The rest of the planet must deal with us, as if we are children with weapons.

(25,763 posts)It is a tracking poll. Done every single day.
Also his Rasmussen daily tracking poll went from 40 to 42.
The Gallup shows a sharp increase.
Most Americans, including 49% of Democrats do not want statues removed. I read that in a WaPo poll. The WaPo shows that Americans hate racists of all stripes, but don't want statues removed.

(396 posts)I hate to word it like this, but most of the opposition is coming from white Americans. Most of them conservative yes, but I'd imagine a number of white Democrats are against their removal too. Black people don't seem to care either way. The YouGov poll showed that 49% of Blacks either strongly agree or somewhat agree with their removal. Only a mere 11% of Blacks don't want them removed...those are basically your black right-wingers. However a MASSIVE 40% of Blacks have 'no opinion' which basically means "I don't care."
Here's a link to the YouGov poll via Vox...

As a black man, I can understand where some black people are coming from. For us, they've been up all this time and removing them now isn't necessarily going to change what was done in the past or what continues to be done in terms of policy in the present. Even though I understand that argument, I disagree with it. I'm in the 49% that wants them removed. They never should've been erected in the first place and the fact that 1,000+ emblems of the Confederacy live on across America is a problem. Schools are named after Confederate generals, military bases like Fort Bragg and Fort Benning are named after Confederates...not to mention the statues. They fucking lost! Why are there more statues named after traitors than people who fought against slavery?!?!

(51,076 posts)I apologize to you and every black person in the world for what the white man has done to you and yours. Native American, yes you all too. It wasn't right then and it ain't right now what the hell is going on. I honestly thought we were on the path of stomping out racism until we elected our first Black President. As soon as it looked like he had a chance the racist element of our society came crawling out of the woodwork. Just as sure as the moon will block out the sun momentarily tomorrow
My question is is Racism true with all nationalities? Are the Swedes racist? Are the Mexicans racist? Are the Japanese racist? On and on
As a member of the Human Race we can and must do better.
I'm a guy who every where I go, goes out of my way to make small talk with anyone who doesn't look like me to let them know that I love and respect them as a fellow human, that I see them as my brother or sister, not as an adversary. My heart hurts for all of us, we can and must do better. I know I already said that but I can't say it enough
Today I'm taking my last stroll through life and I'm not liking what I'm seeing. I worry for all those I leave behind. I hurt because I feel I didn't work hard enough, that I let my guard down after a few wins back in the sixties and seventies. I got complacent, but I never got comfortable with who I wound up being. mybad.
PEACE
May we join hands in solidarity in fighting this 'racism' cancer that is tearing us apart

The people here don't give a damn about statues or Nazi's or who is to blame for violence.
What they care about is jobs and well-paying jobs at that. Until they become convinced that Trump isn't going to help in that area, they will support him.
Everything else is noise to them.

Can't say.
Gallup says their margin of error is +/- 3%
Earlier poll +3 is 37%
Later poll -3% is 35%
We can't say there has been a change.
What is sickening is that number isn't 0%

(13,933 posts)In any one given poll, there is going to be fluctuation because some outlying joker answered the phone. Polls with larger samples are better because that joker's answer has less weight if it's averaged with more people. A average of polls is better because it smooths out the idiosyncrasies.
If one poll says 34 and another says 38, it's *possible* his approval went up 4 points, but it is more likely his approval was really 36 on both days.

(396 posts)many right-wingers simply don't care about racism and some actively push back against all claims of racism. That's a problem because that means they will support racist politicians as long as said racist politician doesn't hurt them. We've known this to be the case for years now...look at the Southern strategy and how effective it was! They've always been this way. I think now though, people on the Left who wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt for so many years are now beginning to realize how far gone many on the Right are.
Motownman78
(491 posts)than why did so many in PA, MI, WI, and OH vote for Obama twice? Like someone mentioned about a YouGov poll, a plurality of even AA just don't care about the statues. All most people care about jobs, and that is what the Dumpster Fire ran and won on.
DemocraticSocialist8
(396 posts)I believe the election was stolen from Clinton just like 2000 was stolen from Gore. Only 2016 was MUCH worse than 2000. The more I see from this so-called President, the more I don't believe he won. 2016 was an attempted coup. Millions of non-white voters were labeled double voters across 28 states and potentially didn't have their votes counted. Look up Kris Kobach and CrossCheck. There has been a considerable amount written about it now.
I DO think you had conservative Obama voters vote for Trump because they didn't like Clinton, but I don't think that's the reason he won. He won because a LOT of votes weren't counted. It's why so many on the Left are now talking about the democratic threat of mass voter suppression.
2016 was almost certainly stolen. I think they wanted to maintain control of the Supreme Court at all costs and wanted to pass extremely draconian policies. The right-wing, demographically-speaking, is shrinking. It's going to reach a point where the only way they'll be competitive on a national level is by suppressing the vote of non-Whites. It's a MAJOR issue. A Top 3 issue IMHO.
