Did you know that American doctors are so incensed over Obamacare's big-government communist socialism that more than eight in ten are going to quit doctoring? It's true, according to a terribly conducted survey conducted by a shady right-wing group, reported credulously by the Daily Caller, and hyped by Matt Drudge and Fox News.
"Eighty-three percent of American physicians have considered leaving their practices over President Barack Obama's health care reform law, according to a survey released by the Doctor Patient Medical Association," reported the Daily Caller yesterday. What is the Doctor Patient Medical Association? The Daily Caller didn't seem too interested (beyond calling them "a non-partisan association of doctors and patients" so we'll have to fill in a few gaps.
The Doctor Patient Medical Association's founder, Kathryn Serkes, is a long-time veteran of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, a collection of crackpot malcontents that opposes mandatory vaccinations, wrongly believes undocumented immigrants spread leprosy, and dabbled in Vince Foster conspiracy theorism. The group itself is solidly conservative in its politics: it boasts membership in the National Tea Party Federation; describes the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act as "Destruction Of Our Medicine," or DOOM; and published a sheet of talking points about the health law to help grassroots activists "beat back the White House spin machine!"
But what about this improbable survey indicating that more than 3/4 of doctors have considered hanging up the stethoscope rather than tolerate Obamacare? Well, the first thing to point out is that the survey didn't actually ask about the Affordable Care Act.

(72 posts)...because several much better studies show that Fox News viewers are the least informed of all viewers. If it's on Fox News it must be true, right? After all, they're fair and balanced.

(65,616 posts)I believe that is why they call themselves, 'entertainment' and not 'news'.
They lied GWB into the Whitehouse in 2000, so expect Fox News to be the first to try and smear President Obama or any Dem they can make up a story about. Or if a story is bad and about a GOPer...they just 'accidentally' put a D next to the name (oopsie honest mistake).
None of their zombie followers could even tell you who their state rep is or how many branches of government we have. I doubt 83% of them could answer the second question.

(42,001 posts)Oh wait, Christ wouldn't even get a crutch if FOX had anything to say about it.
I happen to have married into a Southern family rife with doctors. Trust me on this. They actually like to see people able to access health care.

(42,772 posts)I wish I had a link to the Faux poll of a couple of years back that stated XX% said this and XX% said that while XX% said something else. The hilarious thing about it was the numbers added up to something like 140%. Their blatant stupidity knows no bounds.

(46,274 posts)1. The doctors stop practicing medicine and do what? Live off their accounts in the Caymen Islands?
2. I doubt the doctors who came here from foreign countries would not be so quick to jump ship. Doctors are not necessarily homogenous.
3. Doctors are in business entities now as much as solo practice. I doubt you'd have the LLCs, PAs, PCs, etc. suddenly decide to try another line of business.
