Sherman Alexie's new poem addresses the hatred currently plaguing the United States.

Hymn: A New Poem by Sherman Alexie

<snip>
Hey, Trump, I know you weren't loved enough
By your sandpaper father, who roughed and roughed

And roughed the world. I have some empathy
For the boy you were. But, damn, your incivility,

Your volcanic hostility, your lists
Of enemies, your moral apocalypse—

All of it makes you dumb and dangerous.
You are the Antichrist we need to antitrust.

Or maybe you're only a minor league
Dictator—temporary, small, and weak.

And we have a few friends in common though I doubt he'd ever recall. I'm not that important. But he has a style you don't run across that often and watching him over the years has been really interesting. I'm impressed he decided to write about this.

He literally went in disguise often as a homeless person to see how he was treated. And his testimony about whether the Sonics should be kept in Seattle was a performance not to be missed. I think he has mellowed but used to enjoy being a pain. He's just talented at being a person as well as at writing.
