Particularly when you have a World-Class liar and conman breathing in their ear and promising them all the pie-in-the-sky they can eat. And when the conman senses that they'd rather hear his slick talk and blunt blurts and in-yer-face arrogance and vulgarity (shit, the descriptive nouns and adjectives fight each other to get out onto the page!) than face real, challenging, adult-level issues and problems and challenges. They don't want to have to work that hard.

So these folks who didn't really want to work hard or stop blaming somebody else (especially those to whom you're implicitly told YOU are superior and thus more privileged and entitled). They want and, frankly, need to scapegoat. Because the realities of life, inconvenient truths of all kinds, and nothing being close to perfect in the real world, and that you don't always get it exactly the way you want it, and that sometimes you have to make room for somebody else, too, are just too hard to deal with. And unfair. And they'll get all whiny when they complain about "unfair!" Just like their Disgrace in the Oval Office.

I'm just guessing. I'm no professional psychologist or analyst. But I'm really trying to "get" these people. These Deplorables (yeah, Hillary was right about them, their behavior, their stated opinions, and their world view). Because if you voted for this, what does that say about you? And if you STILL stand with him now, and you approve of what he's doing, what does THAT say about you? Sorry. It come downs to that. And THAT is one hell of an inconvenient truth.

NOBODY wants to admit they were wrong. Worse yet - to admit they've been HAD. At the end of a freakin' FORK. To admit they've been fooled, rolled, scammed, suckered, snookered, taken, all of that. They'll go down with the ship before facing up and admitting to it. Whatever you call it, the people who stood with and still stand with trump - they're nothing but marks. FOOLS. Naive and gullible FOOLS. Like you are when you get suckered in by the Three-Card Monty gamers on the sidewalks of Manhattan. "Wait. Let's do it again. (Puts down the 20-dollar bill.) I've figured it out." WRONG. "No, wait - try it one more time (here's another $20)." WRONG. "No, wait-wait-wait - I KNOW what's going on now. I've got this (puts down ANOTHER $20). One more time!" WRONG. AGAIN. I know this. I was strolling up midtown Manhattan one summer day, with a new friend who was also from out-of-town and just hired at the same network, and watched this very transaction go down. EVERY SINGLE TIME, my friend got suckered. And I started trying to pull him away. "No WAIT! I've GOT this! I've been watching. You'll see! You've just gotta watch (puts down ANOTHER $20). It's cool! You'll see! I got this!" And guess what happens yet again, for the umpteenth time? WRONG! WRONG. AGAIN.

I'm sure it happens elsewhere than just in midtown Manhattan. My friend wound up out at least $100. NEVER got a win, NOT ONCE.

AND, the scammer usually has a buddy who acts like another tourist and gets pulled out of the cluster of people watching the scam. The lead scammer says "hey you - come here, you try it. It's EASY! Try it!" And the scammer's pal tries it and "AHA! There it is! Yeah! Shit, that's easy! You just gotta watch closely! Gimme my $20! Thanks!" And it's nothing but a set-up. NOTHING but a SET-UP. The scammer and the accomplice. And you get suckered in, watching how the dude you don't realize is an accomplice win the game. Maybe a couple of times. So you're in. You're the mark. And they SUCKER you. And THEY keep whatever 20-dollar bills you naively and gullibly keep throwing down, so sure you're watching close enough that you're gonna win this time.

You're a mark. And that's all those jerks with their stupid red Made-in-China "MAGA" caps are. Just more marks. Who've let the scammer into the White House with a whole legion of accomplices. And he tells them how easy it is to score, and win, and get what you want, and about all those nice jobs with the good pay and the health insurance that's fast and cheap and easy and all the rest of the shit those poor pathetic naive gullible desperate marks want to hear - YEARN to hear. "Yeah. He's tellin' it like it IS!"

donald trump is a CON MAN. A World-Class CON ARTIST. He's very slick and very smooth, and he shows off all his trappings of wealth and makes you think and makes you BELIEVE what the basic hook line of the republi-CON party is: That you just keep on voting republi-CON, and YOU TOO will be RICH someday! Just like he is.

It's a CON. And you just watch: when it's all over, donald trump will be the only one with money in his pocket. Whether or not he winds up in prison or slips out of the country in the dark of night with his fancy-ass family accomplices to exile-in-luxury (maybe the Crimea?). And that's just the money you can see. He's already cashing in, NOW, skimming off the American taxpayer. He's already jacking up his prices in his golf courses from which he didn't divest himself. He's already riding free to cushy weekends at his resorts that YOU and I pay for with our tax money. With the best security and coterie of assistants in the world that he no longer has to hire or pay for - because YOU and I do, now. And he'll move Heaven and Earth to avoid having to cough up his tax returns, where the real truth is - the truth that he'll never admit to and will always lie and distract to cover up.

He could well be the most despicable individual who ever walked the earth or sucked air off our planet. Worse than "Pharma-Bro." Worse than Bernie Madoff. Worse than bush/cheney. Worse than Nixon. Worse than Stalin. Worse than Pol Pot. Worse than those "Bobbsey Twins from Hell," Hitler and Mussolini.

Ol' dubya must secretly be gleeful. The rise of donald trump means george w. bush will no longer hold the title of Worst President Ever. He's been replaced, forever. By someone far worse than even HE could imagine.

donald trump is NOTHING BUT a CON MAN.

It would be sweet justice to have Hillary Clinton rightfully elected as the first woman President in 2020.

THIS:

At the “Unite the Right” in Charlottesville, Va., 6000 angry 20-to-30-something white men converged to fuel each other’s rage because somehow they weren’t the only people in the world who mattered.

You just explained these Deplorables in a single artful sentence.
