Listen all the way through her exposition on US racist history of the 20th-21st centuries -- there were certainly bits I had forgotten regarding a century ago, or had not heard before.
Here's my enduring takeaway: We have been here before. And our nation survived.
Would love to hear from you all.

(17,002 posts)Framing it as a deliberate power play on his part makes it even scarier. However, I don't think the alt-right has the power he thinks it does. It's not the KKK of his father's time nor is it the culture. I understand racism still exists but not the way it did in the 20's or 60's. The heads of companies left his board for a reason. They know what Twitler did was wrong. We need to get on our reps and congress critters about this the same way we got on them about health care.

Last week I watched some members if this board literally panic over the prospect of a nuclear war, to the point of demanding a military coup in order to keep us "safe."
This week there is despair over a new generation of torch-bearing Nazis and Ku Kluxers.
The Mad King thrives on other people's despair and panic. He loves it. He induces it. He's a murderous cowardly bully. He's not fit to wipe the shoes of most of our former presidents, whose legacy he disgraces.
Well, eff him sideways with a cactus. Resist.
My takeaway from Rachel's show? We really have been here before. We thought the bad old days were gone forever and we forgot.
Never forget. Speak truth to power. Resist.
Thriving on negative emotions turns him on.
