CHICAGO (WLS) --
Three people were killed in an apparent home invasion on the Far South Side and police are investigating it as a case of self-defense.
The shooting happened in the 10200-block of South Ewing Avenue in the East Side neighborhood after 5:30 p.m., police said.
A 24 year-old man, 17-year-old boy and 24-year-old woman broke into the home through the basement, police said.
A man in his 30s who lives in the home with his family and has a valid firearm owners' identification card saw the burglars and shot them all dead, police said. He then apparently locked himself in a room while he called police.............................

UNION GROVE, Wis. (WLS) --
Three men from Illinois were shot to death Sunday night at the Great Lakes Dragaway in Wisconsin, the Kenosha County Sheriff's Office said.
Police responded to the shooting at the dragstrip in Kenosha County at about 7 p.m. The venue, located at 18411 1st St. (Highway KR) in Union Grove, was hosting the "Larry's Fun Fest."
The sheriff's office estimated that more than 5,000 people were at the raceway for the event. The track's website shows the event included drag racing, tailgating, live entertainment and a car show.
The Kenosha County Sheriff said three men were shot by another man at point blank range near a food vendor. After getting a statement from one of the victim's friends, authorities said they have no idea what caused the shooting and no one is in custody.....................
