I think they were saying that among some gay communities, the haircut might have been popular in that era. And now, ironically, it's been adopted by a different group of men. (That often happens -- that styles start in one group of the population and then moves to others.)

We are in terrible times, I fell asleep the other night in disbelief reading a very long threaded post of many DUers saying goodbyes to each other. You know, little things like climate change devouring our planet, current horrific politics of the asshole squatter in the WH. Can you believe in years past the f*** word was rarely used on this board?
Anyway, you are not alone. I obtain the very excellent latest US Democratic events disseminated here, a source of information and notably, a comical parody as the rapid fire events unfold lately.
I travel frequently out of the country, and it is hard to find such an informed site for a good cross-section of events.
But, these are terrible times and it is good to have this website.
