I want to hear THEIR stories. Why were they out there? How are they recovering?
Do they have medical costs that aren't covered?
Do they have children wondering when their parent will be home? Or parents proud of their beliefs?
Will they recover fully? Are any of them fighting for their lives?
Why aren't you interviewing their family members, or giving those that are well enough to talk the chance to do so? Give us their voices. They deserve to be heard.
PROFILE THEM. DESCRIBE who they are and WHY THEY CARED ENOUGH to be out there?
Are they not interesting enough, to be appealing stories? That's part of the problem.
Besides which, I'd like to hear how they are doing.

(146,345 posts)People who are injured and taken to the hospital have privacy rights. The media cannot insist on knowing their names.
As those names are revealed by the injured people, themselves, we will learn more.

(16,195 posts)i haven't seen a single profile. And friends and family of Heather Heyer haven't been on national TV. A good reporter would be trying to reach people who knew her for their comments. Some are grieving too much to speak, but many others welcome the chance to give a kind of tribute to the victim, to let her be known for her good qualities.

(26,181 posts)One victim is a friend's niece, and they have asked to ahve her name withheld as long as possible, and not just because of privacy: they are afraid of death threats and doxxing and harassment from the alt right.
Her niece has some bad broken bones and a concussion, and I'll leave it at that.

(16,195 posts)I hope she recovers quickly and fully. And that she has great medical insurance.

(8,311 posts).... a family is willing to speak, for the media to actually show that not all liberals who go to a protest are "Antifa" types.
Which is a prominent right-wing meme, that anyone who would go to a protest is a face-puncher just waiting for provocation -- not human beings.
If the families want to stay anonymous for their own protection, I respect that.

(16,195 posts)We need their stories, not their names or faces or identities.
We need a reporter who can profile them without exposing them. I hope someone is doing it.
