What's with the bizarrely specific threats from both sides on NK and the US?

Last edited Fri Aug 11, 2017, 03:43 PM - Edit history (1)

North Korea threatens to specifically shoot off four missiles at a specific target, Guam, and meanwhile we talk about how we'd specifically use B-1B bombers if we wanted to do a pre-emptive strike?

Is this what you get when you have two batshit insane leaders face off against each other? Just a lot of bluster and bragging?

It reminds me of this scene from Airplane:

that if Trump pushes too far, NK would be able to retaliate by then.

2. What will kill us here in the US will obviously not be North Korean weapons.

We will die (and probably within a month) from the Chinese attack that Trump will force when he attacks NK.

9. Probably not, but the thing about nuclear weapons is....

250 of them could do a hell of a lot of damage.

Actually, 1 of them could do a hell of a lot of damage, but 250 them would be catastrophic.

The US and Russia have a ridiculous amount of weapons that defy all plausibility in terms of need for that size of an arsenal. It's strictly a matter of show.

Is China willing to get wiped off the map to help N Korea?
I'd say the answer is no.

(1) TRUMP attacks NK (conventional)

(2) China intervenes on behalf of NK (conventional)

(3) TRUMP attacks China

(4) China responds

(5) TRUMP goes nuclear with China (game over)

Although if I were Kim Jung Un, and I actually wanted to nuke the US, I'd put the nukes on one of the many shipping/fishing vessels they maintain and are difficult to keep track of, and just sail into any West Coast harbor...

And that is widely known, so I wonder if there is some subtle messaging from the military there...
