If there is a land war in Asia that we start the papers will be full of headlines of thousands of American soldiers killed in the first days of fighting, world markets roiled, and Seoul flattened and Tokyo in imminent danger of a nuclear strike, likely by dirty bombs. This isn't going to be an easy war like the early stages of both Iraq wars where we blow up their infrastructure with relative impunity and it's orchestrated and watched like a made for tv movie.
This will be the most costly war we have been involved in since WW ll.
That's not DSB's opinion but the opinion of every dispassionate analyst who looks at this:

If we don't somehow prevent the murder of hundreds of thousands for no reason other than to slake that asshole's ego problems, we are done. We will never recover.

(7,541 posts)I guarantee you they think we drop a bomb or two and it's all over. They don't know how close Seoul is so close to the DMZ or that NK has a million man army and 7M in reserve, or that a nuclear strike probably wouldn't take out Kim or the brass, or that there are more than 100,000 Americans in SK. And if they did probably wouldn't matter. Most of them would rally around the flag out of ignorance - until it started affecting them.
