The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,927 posts)to confirm their information before blasting it all over the Intertubes. I'm glad he admitted he was punked, but it probably wasn't the first time and won't be the last. Somebody who really wanted to get a legitimate story out to the public isn't going to take it to some obscure blogger.

(19,569 posts)You get played like a cheap violin by an amateur.
Expect to see more of this in the future. Some people are pretending to know things which are honestly above their pay grade. They may do it for different reasons (popularity, financial gain or even to add credence to "fake" Trump news being a thing).
Trust only the most pristine of sources right now. Ones who know they are subject to deceptions and take appropriate safeguards.
People like Taylor, they're little more than tools for devious people trying to invalidate real news. They may feel good, but they're best ignored.
Generic Other
(28,979 posts)I am not saying you are incorrect, but some of the early rumors pan out. Could be based on hunches. Could be based on sources held close to the vest. I make up my own mind either way.

(19,569 posts)Others can be twisted around after the fact to appear to validate a hunch. I've witnessed plenty of logic Twister to this end in my lifetime.
I'm not meaning to sound condescending, and I sincerely apologize if I did. My intention was just to express the need to exercise caution so as not to lend credence to fake news rumors and/or charlatans.
My only defense is, we're living in scary times and I'm becoming a bit of a worry wart.
Generic Other
(28,979 posts)But they are sometimes ultimately right. Possibly good guesswork on their part.
I admit it is easier dealing with the flat out liars like Kellyanne Conway, Sarah Huckabee or Don Jr. At least they leave no doubts.

(109,021 posts)I don't think he is trying to demoralize Trump opponents.
The skeptics aren't demoralized and neither are the people who follow him.
He is consistently anti-Trump and he refuses to normalize this administration.

(8,709 posts)It seems that Claude Taylor didn't do any research and was eager to get something out.
I do think that Naveed Jamali is a sleaze. I would be careful what he has to say.

(1,387 posts)How lucky for him that he was chosen to "out" Taylor. There is more to this story no doubt. I do believe Jamali is too stupid to have pulled this off himself. Twitter intrigue...

(505 posts)Maybe they don't make shit up, but (at least some of) their sources sure do.
Some might be valid sources though. Still, nothing from their Twitter accounts should be taken seriously unless confirmed by reliable sources. You shouldn't even take it with a huge grain of salt.

(51,129 posts)You present this as if Taylor's story was false. That is not the case.
Joy is warning that Trump opponents be careful, not that people be careful of Trump's opponents.
This is the Taylor story that was attacked by the dirty trick asshole doxxer:

Rachel probably has super powers, though, so it's not surprising that ordinary mortals would get duped.

(5,643 posts)is the fact that the most outlandish things are completely believable when it comes to Trump. I don't know if he ran a sex trafficking ring, but I don't think it's completely beyond the realm of possibility that he did. The question is what a monster like him wouldn't stoop to do.
