this article, which I believe that it should be posted for our awareness on Fake News.
I just wish that my tv, phone and my computer can or could warn me that it is fake or real with a watermark just like that are on payroll checks, I hope no one is offended

In an age of Photoshop, filters and social media, many of us are used to seeing manipulated pictures subjects become slimmer and smoother or, in the case of Snapchat, transformed into puppies.
However, theres a new breed of video and audio manipulation tools, made possible by advances in artificial intelligence and computer graphics, that will allow for the creation of realistic looking footage of public figures appearing to say, well, anything. Trump declaring his proclivity for water sports. Hillary Clinton describing the stolen children she keeps locked in her wine cellar. Tom Cruise finally admitting what we suspected all along that hes a Brony.
This is the future of fake news. Weve long been told not to believe everything we read, but soon well have to question everything we see and hear as well.
For now, there are several research teams working on capturing and synthesizing different visual and and audio elements of human behavior.

Hint: some phone apps, and phone operating systems, send data back telling the vendor everytime you pick up your phone, when you put it down, the first thing you do in the morning, the last site you visit at night, how long you spend talking on the phone, the other apps you have installed,, etc.

(8,363 posts)These morphing technologies arent yet perfect. The facial expressions in the videos can seem a little distorted or unnatural and the voices can sound a little robotic.
But given time, they will be able to faithfully recreate the sound or appearance of a person to the point where it might be very difficult for humans to detect the fraud....
We already see it doesnt even take doctored audio or video to make people believe something that isnt true, added Jenkins. This has the potential to make it worse.

(19,204 posts)to believe nothing of what you hear, and only half of what you see. It might be time to reassess the percentages of that old axiom.

(620 posts)meant to share it with friends but forgot. Thank you for posting it and reminding me.
Those who scream "fake news!" are probably the most prolific producers of it, in my opinion. (Just like Trump himself projecting.)

(24,720 posts)some kind of watermark, just like on our currency, sure it can be counterfeited , but do we need some entity to make sure that it real or fake, because some news organizations or other sites just don't care

(10,303 posts)The moment this technology is used to completely impersonate someone in a nefarious manner, the technology that detects the fakes will certainly be developed at a rate that we will be able to tell the truth from the fiction in a short time. Yes, work on this is already been done but maybe not fast enough.
But then again the evil me thinks that someone should make a video... One that is of a certain Donald Trump in a Moscow hotel. With some women. In a bedroom. I'll let you fill in the blanks.
