I have felt for a long time that this day should be a public holiday and I'd like to start working on establishing that. Well in NYC. Any help? I'm seeing the fact it's not a holiday is just another way to suppress votes.
Apologies guys for the mistake in writing November 4th. I just remember that being election day in 2008 was on November 4th and ran with it. I hope you guys got the meaning. So any help?

On a less serious note, I do think that election day should be a holiday. There have been times when I couldn't get out to vote because I was the only person left at work, etc. In fact, I always thought it was odd that it wasn't a holiday.
Poopy thought is, Tuesday holiday. blech. Make it a Friday.

(53,339 posts)What may be suppressing votes is the fact that Nov. 4 is a Sunday, 2 days before election day.

Make your best case with facts and your best logic.
If you write an excellent letter, you may get one of them to sponsor a bill. They might even
go to bat for it, instead of only introducing it.
Hope this helped.
