Those of you DUers who are current or former mormons will know EXACTLY what I'm saying.

(7,162 posts)It isn't just that he's extremely wealthy. It's that he's extremely wealthy AND mormon royalty.
Anyone who denies his religion has made him the out-of-touch asswipe that he is, just hasn't dealt extensively with Utah marmints.

(12,272 posts)It is a certain something I have only seen in some Mormons. I think so many people have not dealt with Utah Mormons, really, they keep to themselves.
I liked so many of the Mormons I worked with in Utah, some especially, but the bad ones, they ruin it for everyone and they are usually the ones in power.

I don't want Romney's Mormonism to be off limits, I believe that Mormonism uses the cloak of religion and some very good people, to shield unpalatable ideology and practice.
Harry Mason Reid's claim that Mitt hasn't paid taxes for 12 years may be because of what he knows about some Mormons. I can't prove it and it seems that much has been purged from the Internet, but the Montana Freemen were an off-shoot of Mormonism.
Of course, Harry may just be pulling a Judge Judy on Mitt, by claiming the worst when a defendant "can't remember" important information. I almost think this is more likely, but still believe Mitt cheats on his taxes.
I debated discussing this further, but decided to give it a go as you started it.
Anyway, here is an article that was in the BBC News Magazine this morning, it is about Mitt's family in England and early Mormonism there. It is romanticized, but you still might find it interesting. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-18422949
