The Trump administration has started employing Chekist-style tactics to protect itself from KremlinGate
By John R. Schindler 08/03/17 10:41am
Were officially losing the propaganda war with Russia. This isnt entirely news. Two years ago, I explained how the Obama administration, facing a deluge of Kremlin lies aimed at the West, refused to fight back. This shirking of battle in the propaganda war that Vladimir Putin is waging against America and our allies may be the most consequential what-if of our 2016 election.
Hillary Clintons backers have pointed questions about why a Democratic administration proved so timid about resisting the Kremlins weaponized lie machineas well they should. Recently, more troubling questions have emerged about why the Trump White House is even more derelict than its predecessor about this important national security matter.
In response to Russian clandestine interference in our 2016 electiona spy campaign in which disinformation and Active Measures, to use proper Chekist terminology, played a pivotal role in harming the Democrats and helping Donald Trumplate last year Congress passed and the Obama White House signed a bill giving the State Department $80 million to resist Russian lies aimed at the West.
This, therefore, was the law of the land when Trump took his oath of office a few weeks later, but, as I recently explained, in the more than half a year since, absolutely nothing has been done to follow the law. The State Department has hired nobody, created no new programs or organizations, and has not spent a dollar of the $80 million Congress gave it for this new and important mission. All this while our Western allies actually are doing something in the fight against the Kremlins lie machine.

I deleted it even though you were kind of uncivil to a civil request, right or wrong. So that's all I have to know.

(8,209 posts)A reference to scary black rapists. The OP deleted it but John Schindler did not. You can read it on his feed if you'd like--it's just a few tweets below the one still in the OP--but I'm not going to link to a racist rape joke.
On twitter, everyone is piling on John Schindler about the racism, and justifiably so. But not too many are saying anything about his use of rape imagery.
Rape is rape, regardless of whether it happens in a prison and regardless of whether it happens to someone you dislike. And if people are gleefully imagining the rape of Sean Hannity, we still have a problem with rape culture.

So yeah, it actually has everything to do with why one should mistrust the source.

Schindler's journalism has been all over the treasonous weasels from the Trump administration.
Btw all of those papers you mentioned are weeks behind Louise Mensch, Claude Taylor, and Schindler- but I doubt you'll believe any of that b/c you've labeled them conspiracy loons.
And I really don't care if he pulled out his schlong in front of his coworkers- I'll put him on the same mantle with Richard Quest's odd antics with his balls in a public park. Still doesn't take away from him having knowledge and sources within the Intel community.
Casprings
(347 posts)And they are looking at a death penalty for Bannon.
That stuff is just dumb.
The papers I mentioned have journalist standards, take time to develop sources, and can be trusted to report honestly. We don't need fake news on our side.
bathroommonkey76
(3,827 posts)*Taylor later corrected his tweets about the "Marshall of the Supreme Court"- The Bannon story I'm not familiar with- Sounds like Mensch being melodramatic.
The NYT, WaPo and Wall Street Journal would never hire someone who plagiarized articles to write for their papers, right? I mean, they have "journalist standards", right?

.
I'm quite aware of journalists developing sources over time- One of my relatives has worked for USA Today for over 20 years. And he told me a lot of reputable journalists trust the tweets of Claude Taylor, Schindler, and Mensch. In fact, they have used their tweets to dig deeper into the stories that have recently came to light.
Let's not forget AM Joy and Keith Olbermann both have used their Taylor's tweet in their broadcasts.
