The symbol of the Statue of Liberty, per Stephen Miller.

We should analyze exactly what he said. That "the Statue of Liberty is a symbol of American liberty lighting the world." That almost sounds like he's turning Lady Liberty into a symbol for world dominance or some desire for domination. Like saying, we are so superior in every way, you should all bow to us and follow our lead.

And that's the problem with his interpretation. Republicans are setting a terrible lead for the future. "American Values," as we once understood them, are not what governs us, anymore. We are a mixed hodge-podge of the worst of corrupt business practices with hostile military strategy.

Leadership cannot be established or sustained with blustering, but hollow words. Actions are what matter, and what made us great was the practice of allowing people to come to our country, where our freedoms and liberty allowed them to grow and actualize their lives in a way they couldn't accomplish in their own countries. Without these expectations, there is no foundation to claim that we are a country where liberty and freedom means anything.

Without concrete actions, there are only empty words. The way I see it, the only way to interpret what Stephen Miller said was purely through a white domination, racist interpretation. And, it doesn't look like my perceptions are far from the truth based on an article that I just came across that associate Miller's opinion with a white nationalist talking point. Link to that article below.

One last thing before I end this rant. If white nationalists are so quick to claim that the poem came later, why aren't they also critical of the Pledge of Allegiance, which evolved over time. The Pledge was written in 1892. But the words "flag of the United States" were added in 1923 and "God" was added in 1954. That's a major gap in time, yet, crickets from white nationalist to explain their inconsistent reasoning.

And the offical name of The Statue Of Liberty is "Liberty Enlightening The World".

I'm not defending the little douchebag and his ultra-nationalist bullshit. Just giving the facts.

If the Pledge were written today under the same circumstances, Republicans would want to build a wall around the Pledge, and make the Pledge pay for it...
