A URL-shortener link with utterly no description of where it might go. How inviting.

“26 hours, 29 Trumpian False or Misleading Claims.”

That was the headline on a piece last week from the Washington Post, whose reporters continued the herculean task of debunking wave after wave of President Donald Trump’s lies. (It turned out there was a 30th Trump falsehood in that time frame, regarding the head of the Boy Scouts.) The New York Times keeps a running tally of the president’s lies since Inauguration Day, and PolitiFact has scrutinized and rated 69 percent of Trump’s statements as mostly false, false, or “pants on fire.”

Trump’s chronic duplicity may be pathological, as some experts have suggested. But what else might be going on here? In fact, the 45th president’s stream of lies echoes a contemporary form of Russian propaganda known as the “Firehose of Falsehood.”

Trumpsters seem to live in a universe all their own, with their own 'news' sources that tell them everything is great and that all the other news is 'fake' and 'lies' . They don't believe anything but the propaganda.

Lie fast, lie early, and lie often. Overwhelm everybody with the sheer volume of BS. By the time one lie is fact-checked, five more are there to take its place.

Conveniently enough, lying seems to come naturally to Comrade President, so little training would be necessary. No wonder there's such an affinity there.

can one lying asshat make reality dissolve away to the point that they can just do whatever they want to our country?

I have trouble believing he's disciplined in any way. And he'd also have to be sharp and on the ball. Again, I have difficulty getting there.

It seems more likely that #45's personality traits and behaviors happen to mimic something more informed, a system.

All of which means: either #45 is a chaotic, emotionally and cognitively impaired, micro-managing nutcase, OR he's a true genius, a mastermind on the art of persuasion by behaving like a world-class asshole/idiot.

There is a third scenario, however. What if #45 is little more than a ventriloquist's dummy? Who, then, really speaks through him? Putin? The Kochs? Someone from the swing-shift at Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy?

I have this queasy feeling that the American people will never know the whole insane story here.
