(2,301 posts)they actively try to subvert the Constitution. Frankly, I think that is less likely if we have some high-ranking officers basically playing regent to the idiot-in-chief. Beats him getting marching orders from Putin, who does want to destroy America. As far as I know, this is basically an attempt to mitigate the effects of having a Russian asset as the chief executive.

Hopefully, we can keep them in check.

(61,710 posts)while I respect Gen. Kelly, I don't like his immigration politics.
Let's see how far they go, and if trump will fire any of them.

I make no predictions as to how long he will last, but I will go out on a limb and predict continued turmoil in the Trump White House and his entire administration.
I saw earlier today that he's supposedly thinking of moving Rick Perry to Homeland Security -- at least I think that's what I saw. If Trump thinks that he can just move people around like that and have anything operate effectively, well, we already know he hasn't a clue how government works, and probably hasn't a clue about how successful businesses are actually run.

(7,581 posts)Kelly went along with all sorts of Trump's crazy ideas, including the 3 million illegals voting, use a sword on the press.
So what is Lawrence implying? That the Generals are in cahoots, and are taking over formtheir own benefit? Or to protect us from the crazy?
The only one I trust in that whole crazy bunch is Mattis.
