Health care: Senators want to move on

Moving on. Republican senators appear ready to move on from health care to tax reform after repeated failed efforts to change, repeal or replace the Affordable Care Act.

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, said there was “too much animosity” among Senators to get anything accomplished on health care, per Axios.

Senators John Thune of South Dakota and Roy Blunt of Missouri were among the GOP legislators who said it’s time to shift their focus, per The Washington Post.

“We’ve had our vote, and we’re moving on to tax reform,” Thune said.

Blunt said the Senate should “Come back to health care when we’ve had more time to get beyond the moment we’re in — see if we can’t put some wins on the board.”

President Donald Trump has urged the Senate to push forward with health care reform tweeting that, “Unless the Republican Senators are total quitters, Repeal & Replace is not dead! Demand another vote before voting on any other bill!”
