Thinking about jettisoned or demoted MSNBC talent.

Was sitting around talking political tv hosts. The subject came up that it looks like things have now settled down at MSNBC after several years of on air moves.

People they dumped or demoted to a lesser role and fewer on air hours:
Alex Wagner
Ed Schultz
Phil Donahue
Melissa Harris Perry

Al Sharpton
Thomas Roberts
Alex Witt
Chris Jansing
Steve Kornacki
Jonathan Capehart

Others?

They also had Abby Huntsman and that awful S.E. Cupp, briefly, for a "different" viewpoint.

I was never a fan of Ronan Farrow, but I liked Alex Wagner and Tamron Hall and always tried to catch Joy Reid and Martin Bashir. Joy and The Rev now have weekend shows, but I watched them in the late afternoon/evening. And don't forget Keith Olbermann!

One if the best writers ever....in both the sports and news arenas.
My favorite segment was rhe worst person in the world. Usually somebody at Fox. Hilarious.
If only he could learn to play well with others. Sigh.
I do watch the stuff he does now for GQ when somebody posts his commentarys.

Alex Wagner - I agree, she was a loss.
Ed Schultz - a loss
Phil Donahue - a loss
Melissa Harris Perry - that really was her own fault, she talked herself into getting fired.

Al Sharpton - I think he's bed blocking at this stage, even on Sundays. I don't think he adds much any more.
Thomas Roberts - meh, nice but not incisive enough as his replacements Velshi or Ruhle.
Alex Witt - same as Roberts
Chris Jansing - would like to see the back of her, not helpful to Democrats.
Steve Kornacki - got promoted beyond his abilities, back to his better supporting role.
Jonathan Capehart - excellent (Democratic) support contributor, .

You probably need to review the Melissa Harris Perry cancellation also. She felt mistreated by the network, as did Tamron Hall.

NBC doesn't seem to do well with their AA women hosts. Joy Reid, for instance, is brilliant yet they keep passing her over for prime time slots but find places for the likes of the now-cancelled Greta Van Susteren and that other FOX refugee, the ratings-challenged Megan Kelly.

They had given her an afternoon show...either 3pm or 4pm to anchor.
She was fired, I think and later got on Hillarys staff.
Or, maybe she quit to go worth for Hillary.
Anyone know?
I always thought she was very intelligent.

My local NPR broadcasts the BBC after 11pm, and being a night owl, I heard him a few days last. I didn't know he'd moved back to the BBC, just recognized his voice and went off to the internet to look. His Wikipedia page is out of date, the BBC pages were more helpful.

When Obama was elected, they added all kinds of liberal people....
Now they have to "clean house" because they mistakenly think that they "need" conservative voices...as if FOX,Breitbart, and the bazillions of other right wing site did not already exist..

They got rid of (gave a lower profile to) gay, black & mixed-race men and women, women..and tried to get rid of Chris Hayes until he was nominated for a Peabody & some emmy awards..tried to jettison Lawrence until they got ferocious push-back..

I do not mind seeing less of Alex Witt..(wish she'd quit wearing teeny bopper clothes & dump the aging surfer-girl look)

they DID find room for Hugh Hewitt...Greta (for a while)...and other righties..

they still do not understand their audience....
