Steve Schmidt Goes Off: WH is a 'Snake Pit' Of Lying Liars..Trump has the impulse control of a child

After a round table discussion with Nicolle Wallace, Steve Schmidt ripped the gauze off the White House and the damage they're doing in a way that every network ought to be doing right now. The discussion was fairly benign until that point, centering around "respect" and whether or not a West Wing can do without it. I mean, really?

Schmidt brought a dose of reality back to everyone with his ensuing rant, delivered in a quiet and intense voice.

"These people don't work for IBM," Schmidt reminded. "These people are in close proximity to the most powerful person in the world...These are positions of immense responsibility, immense importance."

The danger is real, and it's serious, Schmidt continued, particularly in terms of trustworthy leadership of our military and in the foreign arena, pointing out that for the first time ever in the history of the Western Alliance, the Australian, Canadian, and British prime ministers can't trust the credibility of the administration to commit their troops to American command.

"It makes the world more dangerous," he warned.

Putting everything into the proper perspective, Schmidt wrapped it up this way: "It's not that Anthony Scaramucci used bad words. It's that Anthony Scaramucci showed us all he revealed what's going on there. The snake pit. The leaking. The lack of probity. The lack of rectitude by these people who constantly, constantly since Donald Trump became president have stood up in front of the podium with the White House seal on it, have serially lied to the American people have prevaricated constantly. And it is not good for America. It's bad." Before everyone goes off about how Steve Schmidt is responsible for Sarah Palin, consider the possibility that he knows that and has gotten a clue. Instead of lying to us all and claiming there was no harm from that, he's instead calling out lies as a bad thing, and sending some serious warning shots which each and every cable network should pay attention to.

Yes, the White House lies. All the time. Serious lies. The President of the United States is a serial liar, whether it's on Twitter, a cabinet meeting or a speech. And then he sends out his minions to lie, and it's high time someone called it out on cable, which Steve Schmidt just did.Every cable network should be operating on these two premises:

The White House lies
Lies are bad for America

If they do that, we might actually survive this miserable despotic Presidency that should never have happened.

On MSNBC this afternoon, in talking about the most recent White House shakeup, Steve Schmidt went off on President Trump over his lack of “impulse control.”

As Nicolle Wallace and the panel recapped the week of Scaramucci before his resignation today, Schmidt said that it’s not just the people around the President, but the President himself who is “degrading” America’s institutions.

“We have a 71-year-old President of the United States,” he continued, “who has the impulse control of a little child, who feels aggrieved, who’s resentful, who’s a constant victim… He clearly has no impulse control.”

Think about that statement and the obvious play at dividing liberals and democrats and you can see the EXACT outcome that Russian political technology aims for.

To be clear I'm not saying that you aren't smart enough to recognize that but I do see that as the endgame of this whole charade. Dividing our way of thinking and getting us to succumb to what we are "ok with"

Might I offer the thought that while the enactment of true Liberal values into real policy seems to require Progressive steps, it's NOT true that 'Progress'ive wins require liberal values...saying you're a progressive democrat for the sake of getting half-assed 'bi-partisan' policies enacted isnt worth much in and of itself, but the best arrival at liberal policies that actually do make a difference often requires Progressive tactics.

If I can put it another way: the core of Progressive values MUST be Liberal because if they're not, then we're electing people who are good at being middle-of-the-road, for the sake of being middle-of-the-road and you're correct that THAT is dangerous for us and our country.

apparently, and I, myself remember. Eisenhower, Nelson Rockefeller, and our local congressman (the only Republican my parents always supported), among others. I was not eligible to vote until the late Sixties, but my mom was an active Democrat in a very Republican town. Most of her friends were Republican. The parties didn't hate one another then, and worked together, even if grudgingly, when the elections were over. I remember visiting the state capital with a group of kids when our Republican state senator took us to meet the Democratic governor. They were jovial and seemed to respect one another. My first vote was against Nixon, but compared to Trump...

A lot of those Southerners spitting at little kids were Democrats -- Dixiecrats. Nixon peeled them off. But until Nixon, when people talked about the "loyal opposition on the other side of the aisle," they meant it and it was true. Until quite recently even, both sides agreed on infrastructure projects.

The GOP has gone radical and destructive. But you can recognize what I am now calling True Conservatives by their horror and disgust at the damage to our nation. I saw this in Steve S and Nicole W during the campaign last year. Those two are patriots.

I'd be willing to give your idea some consideration if you said they were trying to split us between liberal and "progressive".

It is patronizing in the extreme for you to suggest being "ok with" thinking, rational beings makes me susceptible to propaganda. Wash your mouth out.

And as has already been stated downthread, he knows that Palin (and Trump as proxy) are his partys responsibility, as is the faux-populist ignorance that supports them. He knows that the rest of his career is going to be one giant mea culpa. He knows that eventually, it will get bad enough that they will lose majority power of gerrymander, and if the GOP hasn't found a new soul and base when it happens, that's it they're done.

...was magnificent. If we Democrats fail to listen to the voices of True Conservatives crying in the wilderness -- if we insist there is nothing we have in common with them -- then we deserve what is about to befall us. (shudder)

This is what we have in common with True Conservatives: love of country, which was intended to be a republic; and love of democracy.

put country above party. Who still revere the office of the presidency and the functions of government. Yes, they're still conservative and support policies with which I disagree, but it's clear they do love our country.
I put Nicole Wallace, Schmidt, Rick Wilson, Ana Navarro, Bill Kristol in that category and to a lesser extent people like Charlie Sykes.

They both were good soldiers, and brought you Sarah Palin, horrified both of them, worked for the ticket, did not vote for that ticket.

They saw the light, saw the Republican Party sacrifice integrity to win elections, and now see the results, the manifestation of the actions they first partook in – and left.

They are conservatives not willing to sell their souls for victory, (Fox news, talk radio, Russian involvement).

They see the winning for the sake of winning, gerrymandering, Donald Trump lies, fake news, Russia

, they see the destruction of the whole Republican party, like the rest of the never Trumpers
