2. Humor is often a look into a person's psyche.

First, I doubt that it was humor, but made to sound as such so as to have "plausible deniability". Second Trump's "humor" always seems to be about brutalizing women, people of color, and the poor. His idea of a good time is asserting his dominance over people he finds undesirable. It is, in its essence, conservative humor and a conservative psyche.

4. We can also laugh at ourselves and at the absurdity of life.

Right Wingers take themselves too seriously and any pointing out of absurdity related to conservatism is a direct attack on their whole way of life which must be dealt with harshly and immediately.

Think about how much Portlandia pokes fun at some aspects of progressive culture. What equivalent is there in Right Wing media. Their comedy show on Fox is horrible because they can't see anything funny except offensive humor about liberals.

It's joke. Didn't mean it. If it is well received, then he owns it and repeats it every chance he gets. Sad! Pathetic! Loser!

7. Several days later: It was just a joke, folks

Once enough police departments came out with statements distancing themselves from Trump's comments, and enough people had expressed disgust with it, now it's just a joke, and what's the matter - ain'tcha got no sense of humor?

No, Trump was dead serious and he made his pandering comments because he knew it would get some sniggering applause from his audience. It wasn't a joke, and Sanders is trying to gaslight the American people. We saw the tape. We know he meant it.
