D.C. cop alleged to have threatened Michelle Obama
A D.C. police officer involved in protecting White House officials and visiting dignitaries was put on administrative leave Wednesday after making threatening comments about Michelle Obama, according to a report Thursday.
In the midst of a conversation about threats against the Obamas, the officer -- who worked as a motorcycle escort for some official movements -- is alleged to have said he would shoot the first lady, the Washington Post reported. He's said to have shown his fellow officers a photo of a gun that he would use, though the Post didn't have details of what kind of firearm it was.
The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department didn't have many details in response to an inquiry from POLITICO. "We received an allegation that inappropriate comments were made. We are currently investigating the nature of those comments," spokeswoman Gwendolyn Crump said in a statement. The department has also contacted the Secret Service about the potential threat.
Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan said the agency is "aware of the incident" and is "taking the appropriate follow up steps" with an investigation.
