"This is nothing more than a quirk in the law" Romney campaign responds.

Here is the Romney statement:

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2012/07/12/romney-team-disputes-report-he-misled-on-bain-departure-date/

"Although Governor Romney was not involved with Bain Capital after he left to head the Winter Olympics in 1999, he was still listed on some technical filings," the official said. "This is nothing more than a quirk in the law. When Governor Romney took over the Olympics, he was not involved in the operations of any Bain Capital entity in any way. He was too busy working to make the Olympic Games among the most successful ever held."

This has two signicant points:

They are not denying the facts. In fact those of us of Watergate age will remember Washington Post coining the term "Non-denial denial".

The second point is that the jails are filled with people who are there because of those pesky "quirks" in the law.

They are not denying the facts, only the motivation, which legally might mitigate the sentence but not the judgement of the facts and the law, as quirky as it may seem to them.

They would reveal that he either lied to the voters or committed a felony.

Rmoney is totally boxed in on this one and he has nobody to blame but himself.
