tRump did talk to millions of middle Americans........do we remember what he said???

and can the Democrats gain on that??? or perfect the message that will bring the middle class back to the Democratic Party?? I'm curious, people are still really mad at Washington.....how can the Democrats explain and deliver the message that all those that voted for tRump, Dems and Repubs alike, want Washington to make their life better. How do the Dems customize the message to improve their life and the lives of their family, because I don't see any ground swell to the Democratic Party as of now. JMHO.

Trump lied to those people. He simply told them what they wanted to hear with no intention of ever doing it. They believed him. Bought it hook, line, and sinker. Now, they are in complete denial.

It's hard for us to play reality against fantasy and win.

You want to get people who stayed home thinking Hillary was going to win anyway or said, I cannot bring myself to vote for that *@?$'s.

And now feel really stupid for doing so.

Don't complain, VOTE! As Barack said.

I would add, don't browbeat them, I think by now they know, they fucked up

Ok, ok, ok, that's not going to happen, but, WE NEED A SHORT CONCISE RALLYING CRY. NOT make America great again.....but something like that, something that's short and to the point. People like and remember a catchy phrase.....a jingle if you will. A slogan, something that resonates and is true. JMHO.

Trump promised that everybody would get the best health care at little cost, that everybody would get a tax cut, that he'd bring all the outsourced manufacturing back to America, that coal miners would all get their jobs back, that all government regulations on businesses would be repealed, that the police would be respected again, that all the Muslims and "bad hombres" would be deported, and that everybody could say Merry Christmas again.

Every single one of those promises was a blatant, cynical lie except the Christmas thing, because everybody already has the right to say Merry Christmas anytime they want.

I'm not sure how Democrats compete with this. Should we lie too? I'm starting to think maybe yes.

And he made folks feel good about their prospects if they voted for him. He was lying his ass off, but he told his audiences that he was the only one with a plan for America. He said that it was going to be so easy for him to repeal Obamacare, that all his opponents were deficient in some way, and that he was going to enact all these simple solutions to complicated, scary problems. Nobody thought to ask him what his solutions were, and whenever he offered any specifics, it was pretty apparent that he didn't know what he was talking about. Voters who were attracted to his campaign didn't care, and the media were surprisingly compliant in not questioning Trump about anything. Trump demonized the media, but as CBS chief Les Moonves said, the ratings and the money that rolled in for Trump coverage were just too good to pass up. So the media gave him a pass, even when Trump threatened them and encouraged his supporters to attack the media.

But most of what Trump did was he went to these small venues. There's no reason that Democrats can't go there, too. Generate local excitement, get media coverage in those areas without the Fox filter, and buck up the people who are fighting the good fight in those areas.

areas that don't have good insurance coverage. It is start ( do not run on single payer) ......obviously we can't be racist assholes so immigration is out, but fixing trade, healthcare upgrades and providing jobs should be a priority for any president.

There were lots of ways to hit back that Dems in politically visible places failed to. Remember when there was the backlash against Michelle Obama about saying something like she was finally proud of America when Obama was nominated? Well, there was no similar backlash against the Trump meme of Make America Great Again. HRC tried a few time but got very little support from the base because they were focused on America not being "great" for many. That never has been he case but the point should have been made loudly and clearly that American "greatness" for the myriad of people of different backgrounds, cultures, and colors and religions was in its people of good will as compared to other nations and governments. You know, if the Dems had used that same Make America Great Again message we would have been told to leave the country if we didn't think America was already great.
