US Olympic Team Uniforms Made In China

The uniforms of our Olympic team were made in China. Even the blazers alone are nearly $800 and were made by Chinese workers making probably no more than 53 cents and hour. Only corporate American could deliver such travesty. I will bet the Romney even has money invested in one of their factory gulags.

For the first year since records began in second place, by about 3%, to a country with more than 400% our population.

I was drying my silverware and cutlery yesterday, I don't have a dishwasher, and I dry everything, anyway, I noticed that on some little knives we have, on one blade it said "stainless steel, USA".....and the next knife I was drying the same shape only in a different color it said "china". I never noticed it before, so I check all the knives out, and I had 3 USA knives, and 2 china ones. Thought to myself I wonder when the change happened. Ugh..... I hate seeing china on everything.

Team USA To Be Decked Out in Uniforms Made in China

The classic American style — shown in an image above — was crafted by designer Ralph Lauren. But just how American is it?

When ABC News looked at the labels, it found “made in China.”

Nanette Lepore, one of the top U.S. fashion designers, said she was shocked that none of the uniforms had been made in the states. Further, Lepore said that it was “absolutely” possible that the athletes could have been outfitted in U.S.-made clothing. She said U.S. manufactures could have easily made the uniforms — and for less.

Here’s how much the uniforms cost:

Men:
Beret – $55
Tie – $125
Belt – $85
Shirt – $425
Blazer – $795
Trousers – $295
Shoes – $165

Women:
Beret – $55
Scarf – $58
Belt – $85
Shirt – $179
Skirt – $498
Blazer – $598

“Why shouldn’t we have pride not only in the American athletes, but in the American manufacturers and laborers who are the backbone of our country?” Lepore said to ABC News. “Why? What’s wrong? Why was that not a consideration?”

Who's paying for these outfits for all those athletes, and there are lots of them? Who forks over the money for the uniforms. The athletes, themselves? Someone's making an obscene profit on these uniforms. Truly. And, of course, they could have been made in the US. And should have been.

IIRC, Ralph Lauren is a sponsor of the US Olympic team.

They probably donate the clothing to the Olympic team and then take a charitable deduction on their taxes. Either that or they write it off as a marketing expense. Either way, it is in their interest to make the prices as high as possible.

So, it is probably the US taxpayer who is actually paying for the Ralph Lauren Chinese clothing.

Its is also the price you will pay for ordering them on the Ralph Lauren website:

I guess they should find another USA only plant to make the uniforms.......along with the track shoes, the bathing wear, the field accessories, the x game machines, the volleyballs, the, well, everything, I guess. What a fake sense of outrage over this. They better check the flag they will bring into the stadium.
