He was appointed by Jeff Sessions right? Lying snake Jeff Sessions. Why would Jeff Sessions appoint anyone that could get him in trouble and put him in jail. Why would Trump allow anyone to be appointed that would put him or his family in jail.
It has been a long time and we've seen nothing so far. I would just love for some news organization to investigate and make sure he is not as dirty as the rest

(825 posts)I follow several members of the GOP that are as outraged as we are. I think Mueller is seeking the truth.

(2,301 posts)He was appointed by Rosenstein. Mueller is more from the old-school Bush faction of the Republican party, which hate Trump.
These things take time to do properly, especially if it's a wide conspiracy and you are worried that individual people could be pardoned if you just start the proceedings piecemeal.
Besides, the legal team that Mueller is assembling are top people with specializations in organized crime, financial crimes, counterintelligence, previous presidential scandals, Russian, etc. I don't think any of these people would have quit their lucrative jobs elsewhere to work on this thing if they thought that Mueller was compromised and trying to waste their time.

The universal opinion is that Mueller is a straight shooter and can't be bought.

(146,248 posts)We've seen nothing so far from the investigation because that's standard practice for DOJ investigations. So, that's another problem with your question.
The bottom line is that we will have to wait to see what that investigation turns up. Mueller has hired a bunch of solid attack-dog prosecutors and investigators. I think it's probably best to wait and see what comes from it before attacking Mueller.

(21,988 posts)Robert Mueller III was not appointed by Attorney General Sessions who recused himself on the Russia probe. Mr. Mueller was appointed by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein who made the appointment after Trump tried to blame his firing of James Comey on Mr. Rosenstein. The Deputy AG threatened to resign if Trump continued to blame him for Mr. Comey's termination.
Furthermore, Mr. Mueller has a remarkably stellar resume and professional history. His appointment was rather brilliant in that his findings will not be biased. Plus, it probably pissed off Trump as it was a nonverbal way of telling Trump to not mess with Mr. Rosenstein.
Lastly, how can you say it "has been a long time and we've seen nothing so far?" Trump has been in office only six months! There has been so much dirt exposed that I can see how one might be desensitized by it all, but still, there's been more in six months than in the 8 years of President Obama's ethical presidency. As far as "some news organization" investigating Trump, have you read the NY Times, the Washington Post, Talking Points Memo or even the posts on Democratic Underground?
Have faith, Maraya1969. Mr. Mueller will expose any illegalities and the news media will reveal the whole story as they continue their excellent reporting.

(1,129 posts)We have seen nothing?
What are we supposed to see?
This is a RICO / Espionage/ potential Treason case
Involving at least 30 individuals ... multiple countries... languages... and that has its origins dating back possibly decades....
I suppose *45 will have to fire Rosenstein & find someone to fire Mueller
To prove that Mueller is doing his job...
Since WH people getting lawyers & then those lawyers getting lawyers is clearly normal if the head investigator/prosecutor is on WH side?????

(15,805 posts)Probably not a good idea to start an unfounded conspiracy theory based on 'fake news'. Robert Mueller was appointed "Special Counsel to Investigate Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections and Related Matters" on May 17, 2017, by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, not Sessions. Trump didn't pick him either.

(61,533 posts)The Republican Party will do everything they can to block anything significant, but I believe that Mueller will be tenacious. Who knows what is next for our country. It could go either way at this point.
