Borrowing money so that the rich can have more

All this discussion about tax cuts ignores the other debate about the deficit. Every cent of tax cut is borrowed. So really the argument is that we need to borrow more money so that wealthy and upper middle class people can have more. Ask your local T-bagger if they are happy to borrow more money from China so that Mittens can get a big tax cut. Of if they can't handle that one, ask them if they want to do so in order that Nancy Pelosi or John Kerry (or any number of rich Democratic Congresscritters) can have a big ol' tax cut. (I'm not suggesting either would want or vote for such a cut, just giving examples of folks who would benefit that the t-baggers hate).

And don't bother with the "we need to cut" Bullcrap. We have had big deficits since Bush inflicted his tax cuts on America. Big Deficits during times when Repubs ruled absolutely, Big Deficits when Democrats controlled both congress and the Presidency, and and Big Deficits when control was split. Doesn't matter. The one constant has been those damned cuts. Congress and the American people will not cut the war machine or farm subsidies or, for that matter, steal SSI and medicare moneys to fix the deficit. They may talk about it, but the reality is there are vast lobbies for all of those areas, and they control Washington.

They believe that ALL government spending is for Blacks and Hispanics, and no amount of data, no amount of facts will disabuse them of that notion.

Just look at the financial crisis, a huge number of Americans believe that it was due to the government forcing banks to give mortgages to Black people. Again, no amount of reporting, no amount of actual facts, no amount of data can ever change their minds.

So, when it comes to the deficit, they believe that if you just cut welfare and food stamps, then the budget will magically balance itself.

From the discussions in California, you'ld think all illegals were driving around in luxury cars, living in mansions and sending their kids, free of course, to all the best Universities.

Just like when people screamed about ACORN and solandra- just how much money did those organizations receive? You would think trillions, from the way the righties scream about them.

Conservatives claims the Federal debt is "bankrupting our children." Not quite. The money didn't come from the future, it came from rich lenders living today. "Our children" might owe the debt, but it is also "our children" that will be receiving the payments. The issue is that 99% of future children will owe the money to 1% of future children (e.g. Pete Peterson's heirs).

N.B. - Debt held by foreigners is mostly a consequence of trade deficits. So that's a different problem
