I watch and analyze them on TV and around me and they are all appear to be as nervous as a mother cat with deaf kittens.
You can see it in their facial expressions and hear it in their voices when they talk.
They are becoming hysterical. Like time is running out for them.
I am really enjoying this a lot.

(28,891 posts)As far as I can tell, the Left is well informed and rational.
We see things exactly the way they are and say so.
If that makes others panic, well .... the truth is still the truth.

(14,180 posts)unemployment and 46 millions Americans still living at or beneath the poverty level - those are the things that I get panicked about. But then I suck it up and try to transcend my panicky feelings.
I actually like Obama a lot on the personal level, but I view Obama v. Romney as an entertaining sideshow to the issues that really matter in most people's lives.
Most 'Far, Far Leftists' would agree with me, I think.

(7,309 posts)... the notion that we have a sizeable far leftist movement in this country. Wish it were true, but we're stuck with center and center-right elements who have ultimate influence policy-wise.
Them's the facts.

(9,214 posts)Well it may be true to an Allen West supporter. According to him we are being overrun from the far, far left.
The right sure knew what they were doing when they created the meme equating Liberal with bad.

(9,214 posts)it won't be because of the Republicans, it will be the fault of the far, far Left. Just like when Gore lost, right?
Some people will use any opportunity to rag on Liberals won't they.
I can remember when DU was a Liberal web site.

It's the truth, everything scares them, threatens them, their bible, or their gun...
They should all just cower under their beds with their binkies in their mouthes.

(14,180 posts)think I know how to get a YouTube clip (assuming I can find one) onto DU.
I have no idea how the actors were able to keep straight faces when they made this scene.
There's a scene in Jim Jarmusch's 'Down by Law' that rivals this one in pure comic hilarity (when the three inmates, including Roberto Benigni, go 'ice scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream.'), but this one is right up there at the top

(11,441 posts)They took control of the legislature in 2010 -- first time in over 100 years -- and are getting pretty much everything they want. McCrory (R) is likely to win as governor in November. Nope, not hysterical in the least.

(11,441 posts)and it's like a juggernaut that (seemingly) can't be stopped. Meanwhile, state-wide unemployment is still at what? 10%? Many don't seem to care, just as long as gays can't marry. The apathy I see around me really ticks me off. And many people are just generally uninformed: Last night I played trivia and about 1/2 of the group had NO IDEA what fracking was. Sure, they could list Jennifer Lopez movies by release date, but flammable water and micro-earthquakes...say what?! Part of the problem is the shitty local news -- no mention of the $330M in tax cuts for the wealthy, but God almighty, the outrage over the fireworks being moved from the fairgrounds to downtown Raleigh.
Obama won in 2008 by only about 14,000 votes, and based on what I've witnessed over the past two years, I'm not so sure about 2012. The Democratic Party in this state needs to get it together, and people need to start paying f'ing attention and vote.

(9,136 posts)As much as I hope what you're saying is true, and hope that they have very good reasons for panicking, I'm from Texas, where the Republican/Teabagger heel is firmly planted on the Lone Star State's necks, not only thanks to the strength of the very entrenched Republican establishment, but (no) thanks to the lassitude of so many Texans who could fight back by the simple expedient of registering to vote and then actually going to the polls.
I applaud and cheer Democratic advances in other states. But Lordy, Lordy, Lordy, I feel like I've been living in a state-wide Mudville, especially since our very good Democratic gubernatorial candidate struck out in 2010.

(20,941 posts)The progressive (for its era) Republican party eventually transformed into the party it was for most of the last 100 years. I think the guys in office panic all the time for their jobs but I'm not so sure the people that prop them up with money are in panic mode. If Romney loses and they lose the house they will move to getting more blue dog Democrats into office. If a real progressive agenda started passing, I wonder how long the Democratic party would last before the big money destroyed it. Robber Barons don't like to lose.

But four months is a loooong time in politics.
Their panic needs to be replaced with some serious soul-searching and research, but that's not as fun as watching Beck and Limpballs and getting all frothy at the mouth over imaginary enemies.

(111,111 posts)Most Republicans that I encounter seem to be withdrawn from politics and have no desire to talk politics. About the only exceptions would be the Tea Baggers. What does it mean?
I don't think they are smart enough to conspire in their silence? I think they are just turned off by the entire play. It will be a challenge for the Republicans to get these folks fired up for the election. How far can the hatred for Obama carry them? I sense that many more Republicans than Democrats will sit out the next election. They see no reason to vote. I think this would favor the President? But this is just an uneducated guess.

(36,392 posts)Considering their candidate is complete loser. I am certain that their media hold, voter purges, gerrymandering, and voting machines will give them back the Senate, grow their lead in the house, and maybe steal the WH. And of course the Blue Dogs will blame the losses on the liberals.
