Despite calls from Republican senators like Susan Collins (R-ME) and Bill Cassidy (R-LA) that tinkering wont be enough to get them to support the GOP Obamacare repeal bill, Sen. John Thune (R-SD) said there are just a few little issues to address to get the votes Republicans need.
Were going to take the bill we have and try to, there are always little things, dials you can twist to try to attract support, he said Wednesday, appearing on Fox and Friends.
He said there are a couple of issues conservatives want to address and a couple of issues moderates want to address, likely referring to the fact that several GOP Senators in Medicaid-expansion states have said they cant support the plan because of its rollback of the expansion.
It is a function of just trying to figure out that sweet spot where we can get the 50 votes you need to pass it and of course the assistance of Mike Pence, the vice president, and the chair if necessary, he said. We will get there.

I wonder if this NOODLE, watched Lawrence O'Donnell last night, he pretty much said and fully explained why you and your other four henchmen in your leadership conference would have lost 95-5 for this death panel bill, and that's why it was pulled, go check it out and get back with us NOODLE

(82,849 posts)Yeah, there's the immediate one of 15 million people suddenly being uninsured next year. Then there's that whole "let's cut a huge chunk of money off of benefits and give it all to a handful of people who can't spend what they have now" issue. You might think about addressing those issues, Senator.

(24,720 posts)on the reservation have the highest mortality rate in the country, let alone 15 million next year and then over 22 million the following 2 years and then after that close to 55 million, losing health insurance, not health care, there is a difference. And this ass**** marches lock step into the death panel cadre, and he and his henchmen want a new CBO score this Friday, so that his gang of hypocrites can screw people over country wide.
If he was so concerned he would have to think about the Lakota / Oglala Sioux in the state. And I having Indigenous blood running through my veins do not like this hypocrite

(34,661 posts)his constituents back in South Dakota. He got the money. Knowing a lot about South Dakota, this bill will raise holy hell on most of the Citizenry. Thune's base is the Farm Community and the Religious Fundies. The Farm Bureau Insurance Company pretty much supports the GOP as well as the Dairy/Cheese Industry.
Most of the media state wide is under single ownership and that is major ring wing at best.
