"Over the weekend, the governor, Nikki Haley, destroyed the South Carolina Commission for the Arts the cut was such that the 20 people who work there cannot show up to work today, cant even go into their building, because of liability issues. The arts in South Carolina brings in $9.2 billion and creates 78,000 jobs at a cost of 1.9 million to the Arts Commission. Its a phenomenally stupid cut our state has one of the two best arts in education programs in the country! We dont do a lot well in South Carolina, but this is one of the few we really do. And now were about to be the only state in the country without a public arts agency."

(28,890 posts)As if Rick Perry and the Goopers ever even think about art here either.
Still, what will the NC people think about all this, the loss of art and jobs,
and the benefit to the economy?
I've never heard of anything so morbidly stupid, yet there it is... and it's
got nothing positive about it in any way, not even anything laughable.

Alabama: home of the "show me your papers" law."what will the NC people think about all this, the loss of art and jobs,"
"what will the NC people think about all this, the loss of art and jobs,"
I expect North Carolina will feel sorry for South Carolina, and hope that foolishness stops at the border between the 2 states. But it may not, given North Carolina's past actions."what will the NC people think about all this, the loss of art and jobs,"

It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts and letters is openly attacked.
