could the nationwide voter disenfranchisement by the rep party tip the scales of election?

it scares the shit out of me.

this has been going on in state congresses across the country.

makes electronic voting machines unnecessary.

It just will. We can't lose 18% of Philly voters and carry the state.

however, it seems that these voter caging laws are being challenged in state after state, and all are going down in flames one at a time..

however these laws pushed in Republican states, can't pass constitutional muster... they are going down in state after state..

my hope is that the DOJ busts ALEC with RICO... conspiracy to deny voting rights

"millions" of illegal immigrants and people who don't earn enough to pay income tax were voting. (Poor people shouldn't vote, because they don't pay federal income tax, and therefore "have no skin in the game," as the righties all say.)

They claim that "everyone" has a driver's license or a passport. I pointed out that there's nothing on my driver's license that says I'm a U.S. citizen (and indeed, I know several non-citizen legal immigrants who have Minnesota driver's licenses) and that even the address could be outdated. My passport proves citizenship, but it is up to me to update the address in pencil.

This means that they'd have to set up a whole new bureaucracy to provide IDs that both proved citizenship and proved current address. I didn't think of it then, but I wonder if there are a lot of Republicanite cronies just itching to set up "ID issuing services" in their "efficient private sector."

But, could the Justice Department ask a court to put a hold on all of the Voter ID laws until January? Using maybe the voting rights act or something?

I know in my state everyone went to work to help everyone get their state photo IDs before it was struck down. Beyond that, many of us have focused on voter education and registration. A local ILC partnered with the county clerk's office to give a demonstration of the voting machines so that people know how to use them.
