http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2012/jul/09/canada-stephen-harper-revolt-scientistsCanada's prime minister, Stephen Harper, faces a widening revolt by the country's leading scientists against sweeping cuts to government research labs and broadly pro-industry policies.
The scientists plan to march through Ottawa in white lab coats on Tuesday in the second big protest in a month against the Harper government's science and environmental agenda.
Harper is accused of pushing through a slew of policies weakening or abolishing environmental protections with an aim of expanding development of natural resources such as the Alberta tar sands.
His government is also accused of jeopardising Canada's scientific reputation by shutting down the Experimental Lakes Area (ELA), a research station that produced critical evidence to help stop acid rain

(1,670 posts)...a la the robocall scandal
which used a 3rd party (Pierre Poutine) to give him plausible deniability

(50,546 posts)Harper and his party used U.S.-based companies to make the robocalls. Pierre Poutine was a false name but it was very clumsy as the digital trail led to the campaign office of Conservative candidate Marty Burke.
"The digital trail left by the suspect behind misleading robocalls to voters in Guelph, Ont., on election day 2011 has sharply narrowed, with Internet records linking the mysterious "Pierre Poutine" to an account held by a worker from the campaign of Guelph Conservative candidate Marty Burke."

Harper's poll numbers are dropping, the last I saw his party was 1 point lower than the NDP, lets hope that is just the beginning.
