Love and energy to this woman who is dealing with her worst nightmare. May her daughter be found safe and sound.

In DC we had some kids show up for the Anti War rallies wanting to do their part and get arrested with Cindy Sheehan, but a lawyer/Mom explained all that it entailed and told them first and foremost they needed to make sure their folks knew where they were and what was going to happen so they didn't just disappear off the map.

IF she hadn't talked to them, they might have gotten arrested and had to cool their heels in jail for a bit. We had a buddy system of people who were NOT being arrested checking up on those that were to make sure that everyone got out safe. I don't know if the Occupy Movement is doing that, but some calls to local precincts might determine if she's safe but doing time for activism.

Good luck and God's speed on finding her safe and sound.

They also have legal advisors who take down names and where people are being transported to. However, that doesn't mean it's not possible, I suppose.

I can't figure out why parents would let their 16 year old go to one in another state.

I let my daughter go by herself to England when she was 16. She was going to attend a summer school, though anything might have happened. It's not like it was a highly supervised thing; and afterward she went off with someone to travel around Wales.

I started traveling by myself when I was twelve (that would have been 1962). I remember being held in Canadian customs at the Toronto airport for four hours.

This could be a runaway situation.

I'm sorry, but call me old fashioned, but why would you let your 16 year old child go to an out of state event unless supervised by an adult, and I am not talking about an 18 year old adult. If she was supervised, then I admit to being wrong on this, but if she wasn't.... the parents need to take blame if anything happens to this child. And mother...who is Emilio and what is his last name?

Sorry, but Facebook posts about missing children, new laws, and recent tragedies, always trigger my bullshit detector. Has anyone checked with the local police that there's an actual missing persons report? Why was the girl's name not included with the post?
