Brad Pitts Mom Writes Excellent Crazy Person Letter to Local Paper
(by) Taylor BERMAN
For those of us with family members prone to quasi-racist, half-coherent Thanksgiving dinner rants, it's a relief to know the rich and famous sometimes go through the same thing. Celebrities: they're just like us. Brad Pitt's mom is apparently just such a loon, although she's more of the letter-to-the-editor kind, which is dying art these days and should be applauded with a slow, cautious clap. Anyway, Jane Pitt, Brad and Doug's mother, wrote a letter to The Springfield News-Leader which, amongst other things, says:
"Any Christian who does not vote or writes in a name is casting a vote for Romney's opponent, Barack Hussein Obama - a man who sat in Jeremiah Wright's church for years, did not hold a public ceremony to mark the National Day of Prayer, and is a liberal who supports the killing of unborn babies and same-sex marriage."
Yikes. She also clearly has an issue with Mormons but thinks Romney is a-okay because he's a "family man with high morals, business experience, who is against abortion, and shares Christian conviction concerning homosexuality just because he is a Mormon."
For the record, Pitt and his wife, Angelina Jolie, are good old Liberals and strong supporters of both gay rights and Obama. And Pitt, like any good son, clearly thinks highly of his mother, despite probably knowing a thing or two about her politics, telling the Hollywood Reporter last January that, "She's very, very loving very open, genuine, and it's hilarious because she always gets painted in the tabloids as a she-devil. There's not an ounce of malice in her. She wants everyone to be happy." Which I'm sure is true. Moms: always finding a way to embarrass us even if they are so well intentioned.

(21,258 posts)She has said some anti Obama stuff in the past.
What is so strange is that the Mormons are more racist and they don't consider themselves Christians in the same sense as evangelicals go figure!

(7,429 posts)But OMG I do have a few conservatives in my family. My Father-in-law is a raging conservative. He hates Socialism, but loves his Social Security & Medicare - love that one. He thinks Obama is going to take away his guns so he bought a AK-47 for no reason whatsoever. When I bring up FOX news that is an ill-informed source of news, he says it's because I work for a Liberal News organization. Scripps is Liberal?? Who knew?? If they are so liberal, why do I pay through the roof for my health insurance that has a $2600 deductible?? Why do I yell at my TV constantly with the crap that we air??

(8,646 posts)Something to the effect of, "Brad's parents think Angelina is trying to keep the kids from them. They are loving grandparents. They don't understand this coldness Angelina has for them." LMFAO, I'm pretty sure I can figure out WHY. If my IL's were that wingnutty I might try to stay away too. Especially if they spew racist crap like 'Barack Hussein Obama" (yes I know that's his name, but I'm sure here at DU we all know why the tea crazies like to use the full version) while I was raising a multicultural family.
