Enjoy Democratic Underground while you still can.

As was reported elsewhere here net neutrality is now officially on it's way out.

Fox news will come to you very fast and MSNBC or Democratic Underground will CRAWL to you, at best.

At least that is what is possible, it is what they CAN do if they want.

Trump and Hillary are the same, eh.

is right now 1.05 Mbps. It is already slow to load. So I guess this means, for people like me who live a mile away from fiber and 3 miles away from cable but with no reasonable time table to get either one of those things, that we will really maybe be able to get Fox and that is about all we will get.

LOL, this country really has become sucky and getting worse by the year.

We really need someone ready to take on the very basics that people need to live a decent life and one of those things is to be able to get free, abundant, varied news.

but we also cannot get the local newspaper or other newspapers. I did not mean that DU was a basic need for life but being able to get news, even just local news is. LOL!

Call them up and complain.

Fight for independent Internet Service Providers in your community.

I quit COMCAST years ago. My television is a movie player. That's all it does. I have a medium speed dsl connection, nothing more. No broadcast, no cable, no satellite. I don't miss it at all.

In any case, Democratic Underground isn't a high bandwidth site. The telcoms are much more concerned about companies like Netflix, Amazon Television, and YouTube, which are directly competing with the crap the cable companies themselves are dumping into our homes.

The telcoms' traditional business models are obsolete and that's why they are buying congress people and regulators to protect them.

Of course, Google will be just as unfettered as all the other ISPs so why wouldn't they charge Netflix and amazon more also?

talk about Comey and the Russia investigation dominating the news, the Net Neutrality issue seems to have flown under the radar. I had forgotten all about it.
Yup, here's just another way that this administration is making America c̶r̶a̶p̶p̶y̶ great again. And most of his voters probably don't even know or care that their Internet access will be impacted.

I promised everyone during the election this would be the LAST time the internet would be allowed to upset the Establishment.

Nothing but Mainstream News -- Truth Verified by Each Other! -- comin' at you live, with pre-approved views that match the mainstream news. You wouldn't want anyone that would give you FAKE news, would you?

Ah well. Time ticks shortly these days anyway. I hope everyone has begun the process of letting go, because this one is on it's way to the dustbin (and I don't mean DU).

11. MSNBC is owned by Comcast..

..so if you get your internet from them, your MSNBC is likely to be good & fast. And Comcast has plenty of money to spend on making sure MSNBC is good & fast through another ISP.

DU, being a small biz without big conglomerate backing, will be in a different situation more like the scenario in the OP.
