Strong majorities say they expect the Obama vs. Romney race will be "exhausting" and "annoying," while 60% believe it will be "informative."

I think this bodes poorly for Romney and the GOP because it takes a lot of dissatisfaction to beat an incumbent and Romney has a boring, ambiguous message.
3 (highly unlikely) things that would make it interesting:
1 - Hillary replaces Biden in VP slot
2 - Ron Paul forces a brokered convention
3 - a new Osama bin Laden tape gets released 5 days before the election and the MSM treats it as authentic

(17,320 posts)gives one a feeling of boredom. People, the human race is under severe attack by the psychopathic greedy rich. We don't have much more time to do anything about it.

(2,307 posts)#1 Biden is doing a great job.
#2 I think this won't happen but there will be a big fight behind the view of the public.
#3 I haven't even heard the Republican conspiracy machine argue that bin Laden is dead.
My unlikely list is as follows;
#1 Romney actually has 4 more wives and 20 more sons hidden in one of his houses
#2 Someone discovers a "watergate" type tape of how Republicans have made deals with corporations to destroy the economy.
#3 Romney releases a real actual detailed plan, one with real details.

(14,549 posts)and he is a big GOP fan apparently. From a list of release dates I note 2 GOP "wins":
- October 29, 2004
- October 27, 2010
The MSM can make ANYTHING seem true. Just throwing it out there because apparently America thinks this race is boring. Stranger things have happened.

(31,706 posts)We now live in a non-stop campaign cycle. There's a large sub-culture of consultant and pollsters and lobbyists who make their folding green on working the 24/7 news cycle. And, of course, there's the cables that fill hour upon hour with speculation, gossip and pontification in an attempt to turn politics into bloodsport. Every little word and nuance is seen and anal-ized and the spin applied...and it appears this reality show has hit the summer doldrums.
For rushpublicans, the primary clown car demolition derby has taken its toll. Rmoney only drew about 20% support and still is trying to convince the rest of the great unhinged that he's one of them. It's a shotgun marriage that's not quite jelling yet. His own "supporters" don't trust him. Thus no surprise enthusiasm is down. Match that with the big ego deflation that took place in the wake of the SCOTUS AHCA ruling...and things aren't real happy in rushpublican land.
But this is a reality show...so there's more episode to be written and thus the enthusiasm of early July isn't the same as what we'll see come October as the election inundates the airwaves and the game gets ugly. While Mittens appears to be a real lame candidate, the corporate media wants/needs the horserace narrative to keep eyeballs on the screen and money in their piggy banks.

(14,524 posts)It's why almost nothing gets done to better the lives of everyday Americans. Propaganda, 24/7, 365 days a year, nonstop.
It blows chunks.
Brought to you by the 1%, just to make sure they NEVER give up their stranglehold on THEIR wholly own lackeys in power.

(28,891 posts)24 hours a day, 7 days a week media saturation of politics doesn't help
... and the campaign season is practically perpetual anyway. There
oughta be a law containing campaign season to three months max,
starting in August... with of course strict financing rules... and of course
a return to fairness in media and a breakup of corporate media and
telecom monopolies.
