Caitlyn Jenner: 'I'm upset with Trump and could enter politics'

She told the BBC's Victoria Derbyshire programme she had been "really upset" by some of President Donald Trump's policies on the LGBT community.

<snip>

Jenner said her life was "much simpler" now she was living openly as a woman.
Over the past two years, Jenner has become the most famous transgender person in the world.

'No regret'

A Republican supporter who supported Mr Trump in last year's US election, Jenner said she was disappointed the new president had overturned guidance allowing transgender students to use school toilets matching their gender identity.
"It doesn't make me regret my vote yet, but it is very disappointing and I have been very verbal about that," she said.
"I thought Trump would be better on these issues."

Asked why she believed that, she said it was because she had "talked to him", adding: "I will have more conversation with him about it in the future."

She told the programme she was now considering going into politics to promote LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) issues.
"I do a lot of political stuff, but it is mostly all behind the scenes," she said.

Asked if she would stand for election, she added: "I have been asked that question quite a bit, to be honest with you - over the next year I'm looking into it.

"I want to know where can I do a better job for my community, in bringing the Republican Party around when it comes to all LGBT issues.

I think she only disagrees with trump because of her own personal rights. She still doesn't regret her vote for him. The only thing that angers her is bathroom rights. Yes, they should have those rights. But, she is still evil for backing him up on everything else.

In other words she has not lived the life of the average LGBT individual and has no comprehension of how it impacts most of our lives because, in large part, she can buy her way around most infringement of her rights.

for a Republican. And at least he started out in small-town politics before moving on to Congress. (His voice still drove me up the nearest wall, though).

Since California - especially around LA - has a lot of people connected with the film and TV industries you'd expect some would run for office, and IIRC there are a fair number who have run for local offices and done OK. It's the people who decide because they've achieved some level of notoriety that they are entitled to the highest office available that I don't like. We get them in my neck of the woods as well, but here they're more likely to be tech people.

http://www.slate.com/blogs/xx_factor/2017/05/12/thanks_to_caitlyn_jenner_all_caitlyn_adjacent_names_are_getting_way_less.html

Caitlyn Jenner isn’t good for much, but it looks like she’s managed to officially end the reign of one of the most popular names in girl history. The Social Security Administration announced Friday that the four baby girl names that dropped most in popularity since 2015, when Jenner announced her new name, were Caitlin, Caitlyn, Katelynn, and Kaitlynn.

This was an especially rough blow for the two C versions of the name, both of which hovered around 600 on the 2015 list of 1,000 most popular baby names. In 2016, along with Katelynn/Kaitlynn, they missed the 1,000-name cutoff altogether.

Fuck you Caitlyn. You had the chance to do good and be a voice for a lot of people and you chose to piss it away. You really showed how clueless you are. And the nerve you had to say all those horrible things about Hillary. Lucky for you, you are so privileged that the ugliness won't impact you. Do us all a favor and stay away from politics.

...don't like Caitlyn, and can't stand her as a spokeswoman. She's basically universally reviled as a front spokeswoman (not as a person, although many are rightfully cautious of her allegiences).

I don't think she may have any regrets YET, but she definitely could discover some if she starts to run for office. I'm having difficulty thinking of anyone who would support her in a substantial way.

It sure as hell won't be the R's, many of whom would be okay with her being tossed off a building, and many more who would be 'moderate observers'.
