I literally felt my blood pressure rise when I heard DT say In America, we dont worship government, we worship God. If I wasnt sufficiently worried about the dangerousness of this man before today (and I was) these words have taken things to a whole new level for me.
Here's a message for him from me:
Donald Trump, don't you DARE speak for me. I am not a Christian. I am an American, an agnostic, and a patriot. I do not worship a god or a man or a government. I was born into a participatory democratic country where the rules of law and science are my beacons of light.
Your lack of education in the most basic of facts about this country, history, life and your fellow citizens shows a callous disregard for anyone but yourself. You are a disgrace to your Party, your family, your country and your species.
The words you spoke today are fighting words to me. You will find even more resistance now to your uneducated, ignorant, hateful and delusional thoughts. You are indeed the Emperor with no clothes and I pronounce you the most dangerous, ignorant person in the world.
You will be defeated very soon. Count on it.
This is from thehill.com with additional quotes from todays speech:
Speaking to a friendly crowd at the country's largest Christian university on Saturday, President Trump told the graduating class that "in America, we dont worship government, we worship God.
America has always been the land of dreams because America is a nation of true believers, Trump told those gathered at Liberty University.
When the pilgrims landed at Plymouth, they prayed. When the founders wrote the Declaration of Independence, they invoked our creator four times. Because in America, we dont worship government, we worship God.
"It is why our currency proudly declares, 'In God We Trust,'" Trump continued. "And it is why we proudly proclaim that we are one nation, under God, every time we say the Pledge of Allegiance."

(25,854 posts)Everyone who ever tries to claim that this is a Christian nation is simply ignorant of the founding of this country.
Not to mention, it is those who most fervently proclaim their Christianity who also most fervently commit crimes.

(11,686 posts)I see the beginning of persecuting others of any other religion or none religion. I also see eventually particular sects of Christianity being persecuted. The far right fundamentalists usually call other sects of Christianity evil and not real Christians. I have met some of those before......they are scary.
