He then pulled out the machete and attacked a female student, according to police. She was sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Another female was struck and was treated at the scene.
Witnesses tell LEX 18 that the attack was political.
"He asked the first girl if she was a Democrat or a Republican. She said Republican. He said okay, then asked some other girl," said Michael Soder, who witnessed the attack.
Witnesses say the attacker told the girl who identified as a Republican that she was safe. They say that when the victim gave the attacker an answer he didn't like, he stabbed her.
"By that time, some of my friends were running out and yelling for us to leave, and I tried to stay behind to see if -- I mean I didn't know what to do, I wanted to help, but I knew I should get out of there," said Soder.

get the red out
(13,468 posts)Left out the attacker's political motive on the evening new broadcast that night, as has every other story about it here in Lexington has since the first report. I am mad about that, they are now ignoring that, from an eyewitness account, probably to keep the Neanderthals happy.
I did read today that a lady working in the coffee shop went after the asshole with a chair. She probably kept more people from being hurt. Gratitude for the regular people among us ready to be heroes.

did this happen yesterday or today?
get the red out
(13,468 posts)Between 9 and 9:30 am. I hope more information comes out about the perpetrator, he is a former student and going to Transylvania University isn't cheap, can't help wondering if his family is connected, considering the vanishing terrorism angle, but I am just the suspicious type.
Edit to add that the newspaper doesn't pull any punches, this article says he had a history of protesting about how conservative college students are treated.
