Slow And Pointless: What Darrell Issa’s Inquisition Won’t Dare To Mention

Slow And Pointless: What Darrell Issa’s Inquisition Won’t Dare To Mention
July 2nd, 2012 4:57 pm Mary Sanchez

Rep. Darrell Issa’s joke of an investigation into Operation Fast and Furious needs a name.

Operation Plodding and Pointless might do.

The probe into the failed federal effort to track U.S.-purchased guns trafficked to Mexican drug cartels has reached a new height of dudgeon. Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives (along with a handful of Democrats) have found Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress for withholding documents subpoenaed by the House Oversight Committee, chaired by Issa.

The committee’s hearings on Fast and Furious have droned on for more than a year now. Yet, to date, no testimony has been taken to address the problem that lay at the heart of the so-called scandal: lax U.S. gun laws that benefit gun shops and do little to stop criminals from getting access to high-powered weaponry.

Issa saw to that when the inquiry began. He laid down the ground rule that no testimony would be admitted that commented on gun-control laws or legislation. As committee chairman, that’s his prerogative. But it’s a transparent tactic.

Instead, Issa has focused his inquisitorial zeal to achieve one aim: to give the Obama administration a black eye.

... on the part of the GOP. He says we'd have to be really naive to think
it was about documents and that he's not leaving.

...that one of the guns that "walked" to Mexican drug cartels was used to kill Vince Foster.

Gotta make the circle complete.

17 months of investigations on imaginary alternate realities has cost us revenue that we can ill afford right now, according the the tea baggin' rwnj's. Yet they are oddly silent on these wasted expenditures.
So I called Issas ofc in DC first to ask what Our tab is. Don't know-Don't know where to find it.
It's interesting here on out and I didn't keep a record of effort at this juncture so the sequence might be off. I had no clue of the run-around I'd be getting......yet.
I next called Cantors ofc-Call Sub Cmte, they should know.
So I did. They advised they had requested this info from Issa and were denied, then introduced an amend that would require the release of this info and it failed-so they don't know either and have no way to get it.
Next I called the CBO and they don't know, don't know where to refer me to-It's not their function.
Next I called the GAO and was curtly advised to call My Rep.
This is getting curiouser and curiouser.
These are Our tax dollar contributions. I should think it's our right to know how they are being invested, but I'm not so sure. Yet "they" are More than willing to cite all the fiscal woes, exaggerate the crises etc-but we can't get the real info on this?
Does anyone here know how we can get these totals?
