Rain, 30-degree temperature drop expected later this week By Mike Sakal, Tribune East Valley Tribune | 0 comments
After a sweltering weekend, the Valleys weather is set to go from one extreme to another and bring rain showers by Thursday.
The Valley experienced record high heat on Saturday, Sunday and Monday as temperatures reached 105 degrees in Phoenix and in east Mesa on Sunday, shattering a 63-year-old record. But a 30-degree drop in temperature is set to happen later this week, according to the National Weather Service.
A 70 percent chance of thunderstorms on Thursday is expected to cause the high temperature to be 80 degrees, said Keith Kincaid, meteorologist for the National Weather Service. The storm is riding into the Valley on a pretty strong low pressure system coming in from California, Kincaid said.

(53,339 posts)It's still hot here in the SoCal high desert, but nothing like what others are suffering in the heat wave.
We're kinda used to the heat here, but that doesn't mean we don't have empathy for others who are afflicted by sudden weather assaults.
My hope is that all of you who are affected stay safe, and that we don't lose anyone to the heat.

(62,279 posts)95 today, 72 right now (12:31AM), that's only 23 degrees, but it's projected to get down to 64 later on tonight.
Generally though 30 degrees is pretty extreme (this is one hot summer). It's usually more like 20 degrees. Though we have had 40 degree flips before!

(47,675 posts)It was -20 (wind chill) in New Hampshire when I left. I arrived in Tampa and it was 60 degrees. Fortunately, I knew how to layer. I was walking around in a short sleeve shirt and people were in jackets and looking at me like "how can he DO that?"
