(22,920 posts)...the way Sanders is running around the nation now arm in arm with Tom Perez.
Actually Sanders has a long Congressional record of workings with others to further ideals and legislation backed by the Democratic Party.

(13,340 posts)He wants to have his cake and eat it too. He really needs to commit. Parties exist because they multiply power. For some reason, Bernie refuses to see that. If he REALLY wants to make a difference, he needs to commit.
Here at DU, we even say that we recognize that we need to elect DEMOCRATS. That's the point of this place.

(470 posts)Was this trashing the party too when Schumer expressed his displeasure with the Obama administration on twitter?

(13,340 posts)... and since he isn't actually IN the party, that feeds the bullshit "both parties are just as bad" meta-narrative. Bernie seems to be unable to see that he feeds that kind of thing. We even get it here on occasion (before MIRT gets to them).

(470 posts)No he says what's wrong and how things have to change then goes ahead and says how best to accomplish this. Just like he did last night on "Inners". he is IN the party, he is a leadership roll and until someone can tell me how he doesn't do what every other Dem senator does, I will hold true to that position.

(2,872 posts)If that was the case.. hows that worked out in Congress, Senate & the Presidency??
When is it time for a party to re-evaluate it's failures?? Before or after they become irrelevant?

(2,872 posts)are you now the doorman at DU??
Parties fluctuate, and it seems tilting to the right is en vogue the last couple decades.. we'll get the pendulum back to the left only by pulling & pushing..

(470 posts)Who's out with Perez giving a tour right now? Who has a Dem leadership roll? On and on.

(13,340 posts)But I do feel like he wants to have influence the party, but be outside of it. That kind of pisses me off. I'd love for Bernie to embrace being a Democrat, but he won't. Until he does, he's a bit of a double-edged sword.

(470 posts)Seriously, who cares. Issues matter, policy matters, he caucuses with Dems, people speak of "purity" yet we see it here on full display with this. He is in Dem leadership FFS!
