President Donald Trump’s eldest son is tickled that convicted former Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley (R) was forced from office this week thanks to an extramarital affair, since during the presidential campaign Bentley had broken with Trump over his boasts about groping women.

“You can’t make this stuff up: Gov Who couldn’t support Trump for comments resigns after sex scandal!” Donald Trump Jr. crowed in a Wednesday night tweet:

The comparison isn’t apples to apples: Trump was overheard on a hot mic bragging about grabbing women by their genitals without their consent in the infamous “Access Hollywood” tape, and was accused of sexual harassment and assault by some 12 women after that tape was leaked in October. As for Bentley, a series of events, including a state ethics commission finding probable cause to charge him with felonies stemming from his use of state resources to carry out and conceal an alleged affair with a former top aide, led to the governor’s resignation.

Bentley, who endorsed Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) in the 2016 race, did release a statement when the “Access Hollywood” tape came out saying he “cannot and will not vote for Donald Trump.”
