FUCK FACEBOOK!

The ads on the right hand side of my page are showing right now.

1. A severely deformed baby

2. A story about a lion that was caged up his whole life

Everything about this makes me heartsick and it happens all the time!

I have been all the fuck over FB looking to put in a complaint and there is no way you can talk to a human or even put a complaint in! And that shit about clicking the X on the ad doesn't work if the ad doesn't have an x anywhere on it.

I want to delete my account but I have too many relatives and friends on it.

I'd ask for answers but I don't think there are any. (I already did a Google search and followed 2 ways to do it and ended up at another question page. And when I read the directions and go back over there I am always missing the button you have to click!

Maybe if I just stay off for a while they would leave me the fuck alone!

Although Facebook has fought this to some extent using technology.

Note that Facebook does give you some control over the type of ads you see.

Also, you can right click on the ads that are showing up and block them that way. There are certain ads out there that can get past your Ad Block filters.

19. Why does AdBlock allow some ads to appear?

Many, many people share the view that there are no "good" ads. They don't want to see any ads at all.

The unfortunate truth is that advertising is pretty much the only way to pay for content on the web right now. It's like ads in print newspapers and magazines. Ads and subscription revenue pay for the staff that creates the content, the paper it's printed on, the trucks that deliver it, and so on. There are direct parallels with web content (content creators, servers, data storage and backup, and Internet access). Unlike print media, by far most users don't want to pay (through subscriptions or in other ways) for the web content they now get for free.

But it might surprise you to know that studies have found that a majority of users don't mind seeing ads to support websites and YouTube channels they love, if the ads are unobtrusive and relevant. To that end, AdBlock participates in the Acceptable Ads program. Acceptable Ads defines strict guidelines to identify non-intrusive ads, which AdBlock shows by default.

We've also proclaimed our support for the EFF's Do Not Track privacy standard. With these moves we’re making it easier for you to support your favorite websites, without degrading your web browsing experience or compromising your privacy.

Did AdBlock start the Acceptable Ads program?
No. The Acceptable Ads program was started by Adblock Plus (ABP), an unrelated product developed by a different company and our friendly rival.

content is horrible now. Probably because I watch a lot of animal videos they think I want to see horrible stories and pictures so I will go to "their" site.

And I don't want to see horribly deformed babies either. I know that some charities make money from "shock" photos but some people, I sure it is not just me, get upset. And God forbid if they end up on kid's pages

So if you spend a lot of time reading about neglected animals or sick children, you'll probaby get related ads. Maybe spend a few hours googling for cute puppies and see if it helps.

See here for general info:
http://lifehacker.com/5817447/how-to-block-unwanted-ads-in-all-applications-and-speed-up-web-browsing-with-the-hosts-file

then go here to get a pre-compiled list of ad servers to add to the host file.

http://www.hosts-file.net/

There are over 600 Thousand ad servers on the list.
It takes a moderate amount of computer skill to do this.

After installation all ads are displayed as empty white space.
I haven't seen a web ad in 10+ years.
