After watching Senate Republicans lower the threshold for confirming a Supreme Court justice in order to vote Neil Gorsuch onto the court, Senate Democrats are openly talking about making it harder for themselves to do the same, if and when they regain power.

(3,040 posts)That some rich, powerful donors are afraid that the Dems might put a non-corporation loving justice on the court if they gain power. So they told their Senators to bring back the 60 vote threshold. What else could it be? If the dems have the numbers to change the procedure, they have enough votes to block any far-right nominee that Trump could nominate as the rule stands now.
I seriously cannot think of any other reason why they would shoot themselves in the foot like that.

(32,786 posts)and ending the massive voter purges being carried out by republicans. Also, we need receipts for our got-damn votes! I have very little faith in our system at this point. Until that issue is resolved, let that nuclear shit stay the way it is. Maybe people will understand that voting is no longer optional. There's literally nothing standing in the republicans way at this point.
